At what latitude? Along North border of Oklahoma, The famous KOMA corner. I live a quite a bit more North now but think we could still manage daylight hours for schools, unless you are bussing kids 50 or so miles. Truth is Bus scheduling determines class hours in modern schools.
I erred saying school was out at 3:00 we held 3 1 hour classes with the last one over at 4:00. Then there was sports and band that was held after 4:00. Mickey Mantle graduated from that school so the athletic program seemed to work, at least for the Super Motivated.

Near Vinita and the Arch?
You're about 3° south of where I went to school: Indianapolis.

Yep, Vinita and the Arch. That Arch originally was a Glass House Restaurant then McDonalds took it over once they figured they could make more money with fast food than gourmet food.
I laid sod on that toll Road when I was a kid. Must have been 1957.
