There safe times when they seem fearless. But there are Oregonians that will shoot them anytime, anywhere.

There was a great video of them, professionally produced by the state of Oregon or the state TV network or something, but I can’t find it now. All I see on YouTube are amateur hunting videos. My daughter saw that big herd on the coast when she was living there. I was so afraid she would get too close.

I read the C. J. Box game warden thrillers, so I know there are bad apples out there.

The big herd near Reedsport? The Dean Creek viewing area? They’re harmless. Some dimwit shot one with a bow last year, as I recall. Elk are everywhere on the coast. They shipped a bunch to Tennessee, a few years back. The herd that frequented my mom’s yard got thinned in that operation.

I think it was a bit north of there, right on the coast. That video I mentioned shows them sporting around in the surf and walking on 101 as if they owned it. It was not a viewing area, officially. Beautiful video.

Oregon has plenty of elk. They don’t migrate from Canada.

I just saw this one! That long video said they had migrated down from Canada but it could be wrong.

OPB has a piece on the herd in Gearhart. That may be the one you’re referencing.

I’m sure that must be the one I remember. Couldn’t find it, though.

In MO just before deer season deer come in hordes to get into some parks with no hunting like cave parks and archeological parks that they realized over the years were safe. They stay and loiter in the parking lots among the tour busses until the season is over, then disperse.

A lot of people think of wolves as pet dogs ...for them they cannot comprehend game management.

Amazing. Almost comical how they outwit their predators.

I’m on the phone and couldn’t get it to load. Try googling “opb; elk” if you want to see it. It may be on Oregon Field Guide, as well.

Yeah - nothing like appointing an outdoors man to an outdoors type position..he might actually know something so the lefty wackos can’t tug at his heart strings.

To follow up on this topic, it seems that the Oregon State Senate did not confirm this appointment, so this guy is out.

Yep, I figured that could happen due to the leftist majority.
