When my dad retired and we returned stateside I tried three separate troops and was outta there in each case within days. Civilian run scout troops were an entirely different animal.
The civilian leadership was "strange" like insisting that we needed to take community showers (no other option) and an intense hovering type individual attention. To me it was adults showing too much interest in kids, particularly the new ones like me.
My takeaway from that is, I wouldn't be surprised to see several names from what I saw, on that list, many of them prominent in the community.

As soon as they stopped enforcing morality in society and in the scouts it was a free for all on these kids.
Wouldn’t have happened in my 1970’s troop.
After the scoutmasters kicked a perp’s ass they’d have let us kids have a go at them.
It simply makes sense that the pedos gravitate to where the kids are. You’re not going to find many of them volunteering to work in senior care centers.

I think the less actual Parental involvement in scouting events the more likely you will find pedophilia... I don’t have kids myself. never married. I love interacting with children but I believe there is probably something wrong with any guy or gal that seeks to be in charge of someone else’s kid over other sorts of volunteer work and A Parent is more apt to spot an adult being inappropriate then a non parent who has volunteered.
For these reasons, our daughter would only allow her son to join the Boy Scouts if she was his Scoutmaster.
Gotta hand it to her, she has gone whole heartedly into camping, woodworking, and other assorted merit badge endeavors with him and other members of her troop.
What I didn’t see was the time frame for these. I believe this is a 40-50 year record for across the entire country. The vast majority of lawsuits stems from the 1980s period. They got serious about this in the late 80s/early 90s.
It was there in the 1960s. He was arrested, convicted, and after that, the newspaper didn’t follow up.
Now, who didn’t see this coming?

I quit Boy Scouts that summer after being approached by several of my “peers” to participate in a Scoutmaster led homosexual event.
I didn’t quite know what it was, and after the “act” was described to me, I sureashell, even at 13, knew I didn’t want to participate!
As soon as I got home, I quit BSA, never to return! I never told anyone about this event until just recently, when the BSA homosexual scandal became public knowledge.
good for your daughter but wish that it was the dad who was the scout master and understand that is not always posible... boys need to learn how to become men they do it best from other men. I have sister who while going to college was a scout master for a troop of developmental delayed children she told me that the reason why was that the parents were on overload with there child and scouting gave them a break from there child. My sister was a scoutmaster for 2 years and gave up the position the moment she found a male parent who wanted the job this was in the 1980 and I think the troop needed permission to have a female Scoutmaster ...but still good for you daughter more parents need to be involved like your daughter
