Terrible.
Sometimes we forget what this planet is capable of in terms of natural disasters.
Prayers for the folks there.
Indeed, prayers for those people over there. I pray God has protected, and is protecting, the people over there.
There’s some here that could possibly dwarf 6.5
Our times here are a blink of an eye, which is why we likely won’t see any events that will change the face of the earth in a devastating way.
I’m hoping it stays that way.
But for now, these poor folks are digging out from this natural nightmare.
Not in our area, so we are safe.
Yesterday we had felt tremors but no damage.
"OMG We have earthquake here."
I've heard nothing more from her.
There is a dog barking somewhere nearby.
Wonder if there were dogs barking...
All the best to you and yours.
Saw a video last night, ground level looking up, as a high rise hotel had water being discharged off the top of the building.
Seems the building was swaying hard enough to eject the water out of the roof top pool, completely off the roof.
Was hoping there were no people up there.
Glad she is safe. Samar is pretty far from Cebu. Have a house in Leyte Providence, right next to eastern Samar. Got some good shaking there, but everyone is safe
I am glad they are safe
In Manila, thousands of office workers dashed out of buildings in panic, some wearing hard hats, and residents ran out of houses as the ground shook.
Ya' know you REALLY are in a frequent quake zone when some office workers keep a hard hat stashed in / by their desks!
It’s all in the area geology. 145 miles (approx., Cebu City to San Julian) would be much less significant (in terms of reduction of effect) if, say, the New Madrid fault let go in a serious way.
Good to hear that everyone is safe. Waiting to hear what my wife says about her extended family. We have no close rels in Samar that I recall. (I think we have some sort of relatives in every Christian Province!)
