Progressives derive much of their self esteem from having someone in the White House they can be "proud of."

In 2008, they were proud to put a man in the Oval Office whose only qualification was he was black.

They will do the same with a homesexual in 2020.

All are playing to their strengths.

And what are Butt-gig's strengths? He's a open homosexual. That is his strength. If he were heterosexual, he'd be just another small town mayor no one outside of South Bend had ever heard of.

He or any Democrat nominee would take all of the Hillary states and make real inroads in MI, WI, PA, and IN.

Yes, sadly, the American people as a whole are flirting with socialist disaster. They are too uninformed to know the truth.

I was born and raised in Toledo- for 29 yrs. Now live in Michigan. Toledo is pretty big size not as big as Detroit, but more like a mini Detroit. It was a big Union city and did well with lot of manufacturing companies in 60’s up until NAFTA. Champion spark plug, Dana, LOF, Kaiser Jeep, etc.

Going down hill fast with lot of gangs, drugs, shootings. My old neighborhood was middle class Catholics. Now it has turned ghetto. Just sad.

I am almost positive he will be the nominee. Bernie supporters will be berated by the gays and will be called out as homophobic if they don’t make him the nominee.

We have Catholics who vote Democrat, even though, Democrat platform supports killing babies at full term. Don’t think they won’t vote for a gay couple- the main reason they vote Democrat is Capital punishment (they are against-not ok to kill adults but ok to kill innocent babies) and they are Union supporters.

Look how many transexuals, bi, and gays have been elected in Dem cities, towns, school boards, etc. Vote for gay President.

If this country ever elected a communist homo like Pete Buttgig it deserves whatever comes its way - Civil War (Spanish Civil War style) or to go down in flames.

“I’m pro-Constitution and support their freedom of speech and expression.”

What virtue signaling tripe! No is threatening their “freedom of speech and expression.” This sounds like something spewing out of the mouth of a lispy, campus SJW.

“Since the average IQ of the Democrat rank and file voter appears to be somewhat lower than a turnip...”

Not certain but I think that might be an insult...to turnips.

As a Catholic living in an area with an 8:1 Democrat voter registration advantage, I can elaborate a bit.

Yes, sadly, many Catholic voters routinely pull the lever for Democrats who support abortion, despite the Church's teaching and despite professed personal opposition to it. This tells me that while many people are willing to tell pollsters that abortion is an important issue to them, few actually vote that way.

Perhaps paradoxically capital punishment has little to nothing to do with it. Yes, the Church opposes it (just changed longstanding positions to be 100% against now), but most of the rank-and-file are not. There are more than a few Catholics who support both abortion and capital punishment despite the Church's position. (and most Pro Life Catholics, truth be known, support capital punishment in at least some instances).

Economics, and the general (mistaken) impression that the Democrats are "for da WORKIN' MAN!" more accurately explain this voting pattern. Many are members of unions or government employees who brazenly vote their own pocketbooks over life issues. (I have a family member who belonged to a teachers union who drove us all nuts in this regard). Also because your parents and grandparents and great-grandparents voted Democrat, because they supported immigrant labor (which was largely Catholic) back in the days when it was having a really rough go in this country.

it took me awhile to convert to the Church of Pete

What was the church of that you converted from?

I can see why you seek another church since two years of praying in your current church was so disappointing.

In my opinion converting to the Church of Pete means you will soon be seeking another church.

Why not make things easier for you, read the Constitution and the Bible before selecting another church or president.

You do realize their freedom of speech and expression are making their side less electable, don’t you? It also makes establishment Dems and others look absolutely hypocritical for trying to silence Deplorables.
