Agreed.
You must be careful attempting to detain a suspect. Kidnapping is not a joke.

If you’re a felon, you can’t own weapons.

Unless you are a Democrat. Then it is OK. Or at least not prosecuted.

Why should any of us care about these laws anymore?

Waiting to hear about the FBI informant\undercover agent who pushed to the group to go public.

The FBI is a secret police enforcing political positions. We live in a police state. They begin investigations solely because they dislike somebody’s politics.

Read the exhaustive analyses of those investigators who refused to accept the Warren Commission Report on the Kennedy assassination, and you will discover that our country’s intelligence and investigative agencies have been corrupt at least as far back as that dreadful event.

A felon with a firearm is a no, no. We get that.

But there is a secondary issue here: The ability of a citizens arrest is well established in common law and is older than the country.

Whether or not he broke the law by being felon in possession of firearm isn’t the point. The point is nobody knew he did that until the FBI launched an investigation of those individuals because of their political activity. There was no obvious law broken by anybody, but the FBI did not like what they were doing politically, so they began a political investigation and found a violation that fit that individual. If you think that’s okay that’s pretty bad.

I’m a little mystified at all the people who lionize JFK. I thought Oswald and Sirhan were flawed instruments for achieving this, but they strangled the Kennedy dynasty in its crib. And I think it’s been a good thing for the nation.

Ditto. This article is probably biased to make it look like the FBI is trying to sympathize with illegals when it’s sounds like they arrested a man who was illegally carrying as a convicted felon.

You might want to review Beria’s concept. Show me the man, and I’ll find you the crime. This is an American. They investigated the man because they didn’t like him.

What was this guy thinking? He should have known he was about to bring the wrath of the DS FBI and stooge media down upon himself. Undoubtedly his group has been infiltrated by the FBI. He should not have been involved as it gives the media an opening to discredit the group. Stupid move on his part.

Stupid move for the group to not perform background checks, too.

“This is a dangerous felon who should not have weapons around children and families,” Mr. Balderas (NM AG) said...

Is that the NM AG's opinion of everyone who has been convicted of a felony?

Since these FIB guys have shown they can make arrests at the border, they should be pressed into service dealing with anyone they see approaching from the south.

The group should have expected enhanced scrutiny, and they certainly didn’t shy away from publicity. The fact is, it was illegal for him to possess a firearm. You argue that the FBI are at fault here, but suppose this group was protecting elementary schools, and an investigation revealed that the head was a convicted child molester? Would you think that was okay?
