Special counsel Robert Mueller's report on Russian interference in the 2016 election is set to be sent to Congress on Thursday, but the fight to get the full, unredacted, or at least minimally redacted, report is already fiercely underway.
Attorney General William Barr and his team have spent the last few weeks carving away at the nearly 400-page report and proclaiming varying degrees of exoneration for President Donald Trump. At the same time, Democrats and others have been making moves to ensure that Trump loyalists don't hide the potentially damaging parts for the president forever.
But if all else fails, there is another, more dramatic, avenue open to get the full report out to the world.
One of the most famous whistleblowers of modern American politics, Pentagon Papers leaker Daniel Ellsberg, told Newsweek that if Congress can’t or won’t release the full report, a leak might be unavoidable.
“I count on the Democrats to pursue all the conceivable legal/authorized ways for Congress to get the report," Ellsberg, who was acquitted on espionage charges and later saw them dismissed because of government misconduct in 1973, said. "If and after those all fail, it sounds like something that would be appropriate and even mandatory to leak—like, for example, the 6000-page version of the Senate torture report, which is still being withheld—in a version that has been redacted appropriately (not politically) with respect to valid privacy or national security concerns. I imagine such a version has already been prepared though probably with excessive redaction.”

Lawyers from the Justice Department and the special counsel’s office have gone word by word, sentence by sentence through the nearly 400-page confidential report that Robert S. Mueller III completed last month, using color coding to conceal classified or other protected information.
Trump’s lawyers have prepared a counter report to give the public a competing narrative to Mueller’s document. Rudolph W. Giuliani, the former New York City mayor who represents the president, said Sunday that the legal team was “polishing it up.”
Barr told a Senate panel last week he was surprised that Mueller’s report did not contain a vetted summary that he could quickly release to the public.
Instead, he said, every page carried a warning that it contained what he called “6(e) material,” a reference to Rule 6(e) of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, which establishes rules for grand jury secrecy.

Mueller and his Democrat investigators played it cute with their “ nor did we exonerate” the President. But actually the DID exonerate him by not charging him. They are to investigate and charge those with enough evidence to convict. No charge means exoneration.

The Democrats absolutely DO NOT want the entire report leaked. They want to pick and choose excerpts that can be framed by their media surrogates as damaging to Trump to be leaked.
The real reason the dems want the unredacted report leaked has nothing to do with transparency. It has zip to do with finding anything damaging to President Trump. They know there’s nothing there. The have always known there was nothing there. They knew $30 million ago that there was nothing there.
If there had been a scintilla of evidence, it would have been leaked immediately.
The real reason dems want the unredacted version released is to contaminate the grand jury processes and all other prosecutorial efforts. They want to be able to scream bias and prejudice, along with a plethora of other future procedural and evidentiary gripes.

Mueller failed to frame Trump, so now all they have is this sort of political screaming. Meanwhile, Trump can take the gloves off now without worrying about being framed for "obstruction".
