“”When I think about where most of Scripture points me, it is toward defending the poor, and the immigrant, and the stranger, and the prisoner, and the outcast, and those who are left behind by the way society works,” Buttigieg told CNN...”

All correct. And those are individual burdens. I am to give to the poor (and do). Voting for government welfare is cheap: giving other people’s money to the poor so I won’t have to!

We are to be good to immigrants. But ILLEGAL immigrants are breaking public law, just as bank robbers do. We separate children from criminals all the time.

Apart from openly deciding which sins he gets to excuse - and like all of us, he excuses the sin he likes to perform - Buttguy misses the entire point of the social part of the gospel. I am COMMANDED to be fair to my employees, to the poor, etc. ME. It isn’t about government doing poorly what I refuse to do myself.

And when I give to the poor, I distinguish between habitual drug users who cannot be helped until they stop abusing drugs, and someone who lost their job and needs help with this month’s mortgage. I distinguish between the poor who can be helped and those who have caused their own poverty - and who will continue to do so regardless of my giving. I distinguish between helping a wino buy booze and helping someone who wants to work and can’t find any.

That is part of WHY I support Trump. Instead of welfare, he’s helping private businesses create lots of jobs! That is VASTLY more moral than trapping them on welfare.

Right. God says homosexuality is sin, and a crime against the nature of humanity whom God made. Butt-Jig commits this mortal sin in his “lifestyle”. Homosexuality is violence. It should be criminalized. Again.

This is a battle for ultimate power.
Anyone can quote scripture.
The Religious Right needs to realize that this battle is not about scripture or right-wrong.

It is about preventing the Gay Mafia from controlling the entire Country just like it controlled San Francisco for the last 50 years.

Here is the real secret about the Gay Mafia.
The Gay Mafia thinks anyone who quotes scripture is a clueless moron and should be legally prevented from ever raising children or even speaking their minds.
And this is their long term goal.

I may have heard "husband" also, but it came out and was gone so quickly, I couldn't remember which.

All I knew was I thought I had heard a male spouse and I did a - "WHAAA ?"

Scripture is POWER. Sorry to hear that you don’t believe that.

“While Chicago is notorious for its murder rate, in 2015, Buttigieg’s South Bend actually topped Chicago’s 16.4 homicides per 100,000 people with a homicide rate of 16.79 per 100,000 people. Those numbers put Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s city on the list of the top 30 murder capitals in the country for the year....

...By 2017, shootings had risen 20% on Mayor Buttigieg’s watch. Rapes increased 27% and aggravated assaults rose from 183 in 2013, the year before Buttigieg took office, to a stunning 563 assaults...South Bend’s violent crime rates, double the Indiana and American average, run counter to national trends.”

“Coming in at number 40 [Note: Out of 600 looking for “The Worst City in America”], 24/7 Wall St. found that South Bend is one of the most dangerous cities in the U.S., with 1,012 violent crimes in the city for every 100,000 residents in 2016, which is more than double both the state and national crimes rates of 405 incidents and 386 incidents per 100,000.”

It isn’t just the Bible that he distorts!

How does one determine who is the wife or husband in such relationship? I would think that it would change from one night to the next.

But I think that, according to the Episcopal church --- for that matter, according to many churches --- every believer has the right and the ability to interpret Scripture.

Ever google "Gay Christian" and read what flows from the abundant fonts of LGBT Scriptural insight? The level of exegetical scholarship alone would stun a dozen St. Thomas Aquinases.

/sarc/ for the irony-deficient among us.

The scary thing is that there are those in the spoze-to-be Catholic Church who, red-faced and running as hard as they can, are straining to catch up with their Progressive Protestant confreres. I recently read where Cardinal Reinhard Marx says the German Bishops are going to reconsider the traditional norms of sexual morality in the light of "new discoveries in theology and in Christian anthropology." New discoveries.

Catching up with the German Reich bishops of 80 years ago --- and the German Landgrave bishops of 500 years ago --- I guess.

This guy is case example of Fulton Sheen's warning from 1953:

"The real seat of character is in the will and we must not surrender that responsibility either to the masses as Marx would have it, or to any kind of biological determinism. Because if our will is determined by forces outside of ourselves, we no longer will make amendment for our misdeeds."

Homomisia is a strong dislike of homosexuals and homosexuality, whereas homophobia is a fear of it.

Bless Billy’s heart - but he would never challenge anyone like that.
Franklin really is an Evangelist for the 21st Century.

You got that right, and unfortunately during Billy Graham’s time we didn’t have the moral problems like we have today....I’m not saying that society was squeaky clean.....but it’s worse today and I’ve been around a long time and I’ve never seen this “in your face” sin. Satan is on a tear and God bless Franklin Graham and other religious leaders that speak out.
