House Ways and Means Chairman Richard Neal is not backing down on his request for six years of the President Donald Trump's personal and business tax returns, he writes In a new letter sent Saturday to IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig.

In a two-page letter, Neal writes that he believes his committee is well within its rights to see the President's tax returns and that he expects a decision from the IRS within the next 10 days.

"I expect a reply from the IRS by 5:00 p.m. on April 23, 2019. Please know that if you fail to comply, your failure will be interpreted as a denial of my request," Neal writes.

If the IRS was to cave into this political stunt by the Democrats, I think the outcome would end up being something they never really wanted!

There is not a single possible legitimate legislative purpose for these demands.

This is opposition research and an organized conspiracy to deny civil rights not just to Trump but to everyone who is associated with him, through a campaign of intimidation and terror.

We all know if anything was scandalous in those returns, it would have been leaked long ago.

So the real reason they want it, IMO, is to compile an enemies’ list of people and companies that have done business with Trump, to go after those people selectively just as Mueller had done.

If the Dems get their hands on the document, the Senate should immediately demand the tax returns of every Democrat officeholder - federal, state, and local - as well as those of all supporting organizations and donors.

I know that snipe-hunting is a time-consuming task, but could Congress spare a few moments to actually do their jobs? You know, the job of legislating? The one they were elected to do?

They can’t legally get it like this. And they know it.

It's all about optics. They put out the request, the media carries it, and their psychotic supporters believe that they absolutely have the constitutional authority and moral obligation to obtain Trump's tax returns. That's all they're playing at. It's just to make Trump look bad.

If the co-equal branch of Congress can demand the President’s tax returns, shouldn’t the co-equal Executive branch also be able to demand the tax returns of all the Congress members?

If not, why not.

Discuss.

I think a no is in order for all cases. The federal courts are just another arm of the marxist democrat party (but I repeat myself). They have demonstrated for decades that the don’t care what the law or constitution requires. They will do anything to advance the destruction of our Republic.

Corrections welcome.

Not a correction, but you've failed to account for how most of that wealth came from leaching off of her successful husband (like any good feminist who can't make it on their own).

He's gotten quite rich dealing with the Chinese, taking advantage of laws Nancy passed, and of the foreknowledge of those impending laws Nancy provided him, not to mention his ability to influence what those laws allow, per his Chinese masters' wishes...

Thanks for info.

Hmm … Based on the limited information I’ve heard about the Chinese and Joseph Biden’s son, it sounds like Pelosi’s husband leached off of Nancy's government powers before she leached off of him. That’s my outsider opinion.

Also, I know that PDJT has sharply criticized US history of bad trade deals with China. At least a few US citizens evidently benefitted from bad trade deals with China. /sarc

Nah, I don’t need to see Pelosi’s tax returns.

You like it? you can have it.. how many shall we fly in on the first go round?

The democRATS only want the president's tax returns so they can use anything they can find to twist it into making him look bad, for the 2020 election cycle.

We don't need the tax returns of a successful businessman who made billions before he was elected.

What we really need to see are the tax returns for the members of Congress to see how they got so weathly on a modest salary while in office.

What are they gonna do?
Arrest the IRS?
Does the Constitution give Congress authority over the IRS?

Now that would be good
Actually any constituent of a congressman or senator would seem to have more standing to demand this of their rep than a congress with no evidence of wrongdoing vs a sitting president

Yes. Understood. The extremist left’s Political maneuvering is utterly immoral , a pack of lies and deceptions. I sometimes do think they could attract more votes by presenting honest candidates. But perhaps that’s naive
