Texas Senate passes 'born alive' abortion bill

A bill that creates penalties for doctors and practitioners who don’t treat infants who survive an attempted abortion has passed the Texas Senate. SB 23 passed the Republican-controlled Senate on Tuesday with a vote of 21-10, meaning two Democrat votes for it. It will now head to the Texas House. The bill is similar to a measure that recently came before the U.S. Senate, where it failed. Under the bill, doctors would face a fine and up to 10 years in prison. Opponents argue attempted abortion births are rare and measures to protect newborns are already in place. “Republican extremists are endangering Texans’ public health through unnecessary and inaccurate legislation,” said Sam Robles, advocacy director of Progress Texas. “Texans need lawmakers that trust, respect, and grant access to affordable reproductive care, instead of pursuing the interests of an anti-abortion extremist minority.”

It's amazing that the majority of texasvoters --- and as polls show, the majority of ALL voters, including people who call themselves 'pro-choice' --- are part of this 'anti-abortion extremist minority' that think born babies should be protected by law.

Doesn't it puzzle the 'borts that the vast majority are part of this minority?

“...Texans need lawmakers that trust, respect, and grant access to affordable reproductive care, instead of pursuing the interests of an anti-abortion extremist minority.”

WELL... it’s NOT Reproductive CARE if you murder the object of the care (mother or baby).

Eso está mal, pendejo-

How is it “reproductive care” if the object of that care is killed?

People like Robles are just FUBAR...

I don’t want to get too graphic, but it would be relatively easy for an abortionist to assure that the provisions of this bill never affect their behavior.

Babies do not normally escape the womb alive when an abortionist is plying their trade. Making sure they don’t would be relatively easy for those who have no moral compass.

Abortion isn't "reproductive care". It kills off the result of reproduction.

Circa 1968 I was a young stupid kid of 20 years old. My girlfriend was pregnant. We got married and the marriage failed as we were young stupid kids. The concept of abortion never entered either of our minds. Our son is today an extremely educated man in astrophysics and successful beyond belief. Those two stupid kids made a wise decision.

That son has gifted me with two grandsons of high ability.

Today are many childless couples that want and desire a son or daughter. They will line up to take the infants of an unwanted pregnancy.

Abortion is evil.
