Sen. Cory Booker on Monday introduced a bill that would study the possibility of reparations for descendants of slaves, embracing a push that recently has caught the interest of fellow 2020 Democratic presidential candidates.
The senator from New Jersey said Monday that “this bill is a way of addressing head-on the persistence of racism, white supremacy, and implicit racial bias in our country. It will bring together the best minds to study the issue and propose solutions that will finally begin to right the economic scales of past harms and make sure we are a country where all dignity and humanity is affirmed.”

They are using this bill to say “the Republican party doesn’t care about slavery”.

Such a bill will not change those whom are racist to non racist, not one of them, by any definition. Especially a leftist or liberal definition.
This man is a fraud. Nobody alive today had anything to do with slavery. Booker pandering for votes.

in 2008 I was convinced that people wouldn’t be stupid enough to vote for a nobody like 0bama. In 2012, I was convinced that people wouldn’t be stupid enough to vote for a failure like 0bama a 2nd time. Now, even with Trump in the White House, I’m not so sure that we won’t end up with someone like a Booker, Harris, O’Rourk or Warren the next time around. If we do, we will have ringside seats to our country being washed down the tubes forever.
What’s the name of the bill? The “Please Don’t Walk Away” Bill?
My family arrived her around 1900 from $h!tholes in Europe. I owe nobody who’s forebears arrived via slave ships a friggin thing.
I’m sure it will. However, someone in Congress that has the nuts needs to tack on a few lines to the bill. Something to the effect that with reparations there will be no more Equal Opportunity Employer, no more getting accepted to colleges based on minority status, no more all minority clubs or events (needs to be open to all), no more kneeling during the national anthem. BLM needs to be declared a terrorist group (as well as the black panthers) and no more slurs verbally or otherwise against those who descended from Europeans. So go for it!
I agree. The Demos, Warner, Booker, and Harris have changed their playbook from calling for reparations to asking for Congress to “investigate” the potential of reparations.
This is their typical ploy, so that they will earnestly argue that they are not for reparations, but for a study to investigate reparations during any Presidential debate.
Someone has probably poll-tested their initial approach and realized that granting reparations up-front is a non-starter with “independent voters”
