The Never-Ending Threat of Civil War
American Thinker ^ | April 6, 2019 | E.M. Cadwaladr

Posted on 04/06/2019 3:18:34 PM PDT by ProtectOurFreedom

We and the Left are now two nations within one country. This is undeniable. We are now so different that we cannot even agree on what a country is, or on the merits of a country having a border. The number of people who still say, "I just don't care about politics" dwindles. It is still possible to hate both sides — but it is getting hard to be indifferent and still be breathing. How many people can just take or leave infanticide? How many people are entirely flexible about the idea of the government having authority over anything and everything, to experimenting with our fundamental demographics, or to giving up fossil fuels cold turkey? The abyss looms large beneath us.

We conservatives have let this ideological cancer metastasize for far too long for its excision to be simple or painless. For too long, we have been patient with outrages we should have fought to reverse. We have let our opponents secede incrementally from us for decades. We have been tolerant and patient...we have given up our civil society, our political representation, and our freedoms one by one. Our maladies won't be fixed by delicate adjustments now...Either the cancer wins, and kills us all, or we defeat it — and we accept the scars. Let us not pretend they would not be hideous scars. And let us not pretend it would not be a deeply barbarous and bitter surgery.

The titanic nations of the Left and right are rising en masse — flexing their muscles and snorting menacingly at one another. We cannot get out of their way. There is no safe part of the country, nor any genuinely safe haven left in any other country. This is a global conflict. We have run out of frontiers.

This is HIGHLY worth reading today. The nation has arrived at a point where the two sides now have differences that simply cannot be reconciled. How do you reconcile the murder of infants and tearing down all borders?

The author furthermore points out...

"The Left has shown itself to be dedicated to the destruction of Western civilization itself. We have not been faced with such an existential threat since European armies threw the Turks back from Vienna in 1529. The fascists of the mid–20th century, for all their loathsome policies, were not the kind of threat to the fabric of our society that we face now. Bad as they were, they did not seek the destruction of Europeans as a people, or of European culture as a living, breathing thing. Progressivism does. What could be more worthy of, if you will forgive the word, 'resistance'?"

Does anybody see a way out of this? What would such a conflict look like with no clear geographical or physical boundaries between the parties?

We do not have the will to employ helicopters. We have already lost to Cloward and Piven.

The Left is not a nation. The Left is the traitorous enemy of the United States of America.

“since European armies threw the Turks back from Vienna in 1529”

It was 1688 (9/11/1688, to be exact).

Quote from the article:

“We conservatives have let this ideological cancer metastasize for far too long for its excision to be simple or painless. For too long, we have been patient with outrages we should have fought to reverse. We have let our opponents secede incrementally from us for decades. We have been tolerant and patient. In our tolerance and patience, we have given up our civil society, our political representation, and our freedoms one by one. Our maladies won’t be fixed by delicate adjustments now — half-heartedly performed by yet another generation of narcissistic government planners and invisible elitist bureaucrats.”

What would it look like? Carnage and barbarism without quarter. It will be beyond ugly. But it is now inevitable.

One Freeper astutely suggested that it would look a lot like the Spanish Civil War of the 1930s.

Comparisons to the American Civil War are meaningless. Our "civil war" wasn't really a civil war at all. It was a secessionist movement, not a battle for control of our government and institutions.

If the Democrats try to manipulate the electoral college, I see the states dissolving into rural and metro areas. Pennsylvania would be merely Philadelphia and Pittsburgh vs the remainder of the state.

Since the most valuable basic commodities are food and water in tough times, I don’t see the metro areas winning.

Doubling down on mislabeling bad puns as sarcasm should do it.

Or citing hypocrisy! Yes!

The Siege of Vienna in 1529 was the first attempt by the Ottoman Empire, led by Suleiman the ... challenged him for the crown and was recognised as king by Suleiman in return for accepting vassal status within the Ottoman Empire.

I think it looks like Bosnia.

My own view is that people moving in the USA to either join, or get away from, coastal woke liberalism in a geographic self-sorting that make a future division and partition of the USA all the more likely.

I think something similar is happening here in Canada, although high house prices in the high-cost liberal enclaves is a big factor.

I think that Brexit represents the same thing - an attempt for ordinary people to escape from urban, progressive, woke, liberal, globalist tyranny.

I agree. Congress is no longer a viable body steeped in irreconcilable differences between the 2 parties. That is why the country over the last 2 administrations is essentially ruled by mutable executive orders and the federal judiciary that has encroached on the congressional legislative function. I think term limits is a good start so these folks know that this will not be a career for them I would like to see them lame ducks the day they are elected. One 9 year term for all congresscritters. This way they will not be running for reelection the day they are elected and no campaign contributions to buy them because they will not be running again. Takes most of the money out of congressional politics.

Siege of Vienna, (Sep-Oct 1529). In 1529 the Ottoman Empire made a determined effort to capture Vienna, the capital of the Hapsburg Austrian Empire. The failure to take Vienna marked the end of Turkish expansion into Europe and was followed by the diversion of Ottoman effort toward Asia and the Mediterranean.

The Left is not a nation. The Left is the traitorous enemy of the United States of America.

That's "inside the box" thinking.

There is no United States anymore. We are no longer "united."

As Khrushchev said, "We will destroy you from within."

As a nation, we now have a cancer eating away at us.

Socialism/Communism.

The Left Socialists are not the majority of the USA nor will they ever be. The MSM makes it look otherwise. The Left will not win nor will they like the push back they get.

I see a way out. Article V. It was not used in time to stop the first Republican-Democrat war. Even with a population 1/10 the size of America today it killed more Americans than all our other wars combined. A new Rat civil war would only be worse yet I fully expect a bunch of concern trolls to chime in and say we can't take the risk of a runaway convention. We can't take the risk of NOT using Article V.

Nobody over the age of 25 actually believes that socialism/communism works.

There really is no “left” in this country.

The divide is between Conservatives and thieves.

Build more prisons.
