The Federal Exchange Commission (FEC) fined Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) $35,000 for failing to accurately disclose loans to his 2012 Senate bid from Citibank and Goldman Sachs.

The fine stems from a 2016 complaint filed by the Campaign Legal Center (CLC) over a loans totaling $1,064,000. The FEC found that Cruz’s reporting violated a campaign finance statute.

Again, we see just a fine for a campaign finance law violation ...

This one involving over $1M.

In 2015, the year previous to the election, I initially was leaning Cruz until I heard about his loans from Goldman Sachs, which also turned out to be his wife's employer. So Cruz gives a speech berating Goldman Sachs but simultaneously is accepting loans from them? After that I was 100% Trump all the way. Later found out that Cruz is not a NBC either.

God Bless Ted Cruz but …

The FEC is intentionally underfunded and under staffed, by design, by both parties........................any complaints that involve investigations take years............

Read the article, the loans were not illegal, and were publicly disclosed at the time. Mr. Cruz reported them correctly to the Senate. However, they were not reported correctly to the FEC.

The FEC finding linked in the article notes that Mr. Cruz’s campaign treasurer made the incorrect filing and found “no reason the believe” that Mr. Cruz violated the law.

A fine is appropriate.

This won’t mean anything to folks who like Ted.

To those of us who aren’t enamored with him, it will be cause for concern.

When I first learned of Ted, I thought he was going to be a great guy for the team.

Shortly thereafter I came to think I didn’t want him anywhere near an effort I supported.

I haven’t changed my mind.

Texas can do a lot better.

Actually, he borrowed that money against his own savings.

And then, paid himself back after the fact.

Don't know what difference that makes.

“Campaign Legal Center”

Hmmm.....

Headed by a guy named Trevor Potter...

Funded in part by George Soros’ “Open Society Foundation”...

Been known to work in harness with Democracy 21... and both groups have worked together in the IRS scandal against conservative and religious groups.

No. By the way, just in case you didn’t know, the 2016 primaries are long over.

It does mean something to those who preferred Ted to Trump in the primary. Post #11 means more.

So Ted can’t hire competent people and gets a $35,000 find for not complying with FEC regulations. Got it.
