A college entrance exam policy that was meant to help students with disabilities was exploited to enable cheating in an explosive school admission scandal.
At least 50 people - including actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin - were charged with cheating on admission tests and bribing coaches in what's being described as the biggest school admissions scandal ever prosecuted by federal authorities.
In the scandal parents had their children 'purport to having learning disabilities' so they could get medical documentation for it and take advantage of the College Board's special accommodations for students with disabilities.
With medical proof, those students could then take their ACT or SAT college entrance exam at one of two special centers that give students with disabilities extra time to complete the test or allow them to take it alone under the supervision of a proctor.
These special centers were also at times controlled by the scam group Edge College & Career Network and this is where the cheating occurred.

The whole thing is a scam so they can take their tests alone in another room..so I would tell them, if you cant take a test in a classroom with your fellow classmates, you dont belong in school, period
This reminds me of rich people paying disabled people to accompany them to Disney World so they can cut in line.

That’s how the scam works “Oh my kid has a learning disability he needs to be alone in a room to take the exam to feel better” meanwhile instead of the actual kid taking the exam its someone else..oh WOW I got a 100 percent and I didnt even study
And they paid some other guy to take the SATS or to change their wrong answer to correct ones.

The whole college entrance process is a gigantic hoax.
What industry can charge a premium, and constantly increasing, price for a commodity with 10 000+ unsold units every year?
The irony is that people who truly have learning disabilities would give anything to take those tests with everyone else.
We all should be proud of our sons and daughters for studying hard and taking these tests honestly.
How were these cheaters doing in college? After all, shouldn’t these unqualified students be failing under the rigor of these elite institutes of higher learning? I’d bet this will more evidence that college has largely become a money grabbing fraud.
It’s called “pay to play” and this is nothing compared to both Clinton’s scamming everything they could and will never be indicted. BTW, Chelsea Hubble would NEVER get into any of her universities without payoffs.
The learning disability scam hits home and I take it personally. One of my kids was diagnosed in prek starting with the school. Not ADD. Tests were so hard for tbem. Never once did they take extra time. They were matched out if the room in middle school for taking tests. In high school they stayed.
Dr. Laura was just talking about this on her show. They’d get this therapeutic waiver and then they’d be allowed to have someone sit with them during the test as a “special accommodation”.
The person who did this was a thirtysomething with multiple degrees from Harvard.
Act sat testing a nightmare. We went with act as format easier to work with. Then their hs guidance counselor gave a list of some great priv colleges that do not require sat or act scores. They were accepted to many based on grades, interview, reference letters, work and a unique personal essay.
Nah, nobody would stoop that low...
Rush had a good bit on Ben Shapiro. He spilled the beans on his orientation meeting at Harvard Law, given by Dean Elena Kagan. To sum up: you’re in. The competition is over. Forget that “Parer Chase” stuff.
I know someone who did this for the LSAT decades ago. Got unlimited time and the ability to type out his essay responses, rather than do them long-hand.
A scam, of course.
I think this may be in response to Affirmative Action bullshit. I haven’t seen a breakdown of ethnicities for the perps, but I’m guessing they were looking to re-even the playing field.
