Former vice president Cheney challenges Pence at private retreat...(leaked transcript)

Full Title: Former vice president Cheney challenges Pence at private retreat, compares Trump’s foreign policy to Obama’s approach

A chummy discussion between Vice President Pence and former vice president Richard B. Cheney quickly turned into a vigorous back-and-forth over President Trump’s foreign policy at a private gathering Saturday, with Cheney comparing the president’s instincts to those of his Democratic predecessor, Barack Obama, according to a transcript obtained by The Washington Post.

Cheney’s questions for Pence — which prompted Pence to joke about the lack of “softball” topics — provide a revealing glimpse into the churning and often strained debates inside the Republican Party, where longtime hawks such as Cheney have increasingly balked at Trump’s engagement with autocrats and his noninterventionist approach to U.S. military efforts in the Middle East.

The discussion also underscored Pence’s comfort in acting as Trump’s unwavering ally and spokesman before a crowd of powerful Republican skeptics and donors, with the vice president shrugging off most of Cheney’s anxieties and praising Trump as a candid and transformational leader.

But the cracks between the more isolationist Trump wing and more hawkish Cheney wing of the Republican Party were on full display, unfolding in a conversation that was designed as a vice-presidential chat but became an almost academic exercise as Cheney peppered Pence with questions and Pence responded carefully but forcefully.

MUST READ. I wish I could post the entire article - it's about a 4 minute read chock full of Pence rebutting rumor and inuendos that has kept Cheney from getting his beauty rest.

Looks to me like Cheney did Pence and the administration a solid. He asked Pence directly all the stuff the ankle biters mumble about.

At the same time it showed Pence as an unwavering supporter of the POTUS.

Cheney and Pence.

One of them helped get the United States into a ruinous war in Iraq.
One of them advocated policies that destabilized the Middle East.
One of them thinks Trump’s “America first” policy is wrong.

One of them should just shut up and go away.

Funny how these club Rinos get easily offended about their image because of Teump, but when that Omar excrement spews her islamic puss, it is all crickets regarding congressional image, morale and self respect...

Cheney is a dog of foreign sponsored islamic religions

Given the history of our foreign policy in this century, Cheney should find himself a dark hole far away to slink into and hide his face.

Cheney was despised by the left during his term in office....he was ruthlessly attacked by the usual suspects. He should know better than to attack President Trump. A big disappointment.

If Cheney doesn’t like what President Trump is doing then Trump is probably doing the right things.

Dick Cheney was nothing more than a Sunni Muslim tool in the U.S. government. He was one of the biggest reasons why Jeb Bush was less popular than a child molester among Republican primary voters in 2016.

Cheney thought, as he steadily sinks from the national stage, that he could rise to his glory days and play King of the Hill. My has he stumbled from his glory days when he was my hero! Now he’s a pitiful display of ego without a pot to piss in.

" ... major Republican financiers"

Yes, the RINO-owners are very critical of President Trump. Trump doesn't work for them, but for us.
(Shame he has to be nice to them because Trump needs RINO votes in Congress.)

I read the entire article after enduring the wave of ads and crapola on the Compost site. Pence was far to obliging and polite to Cheney. The last two administrations both have a lot to answer for. The Iraq War seems to have been nothing but some hubris enterprise to prove the US could profoundly transform another country at gun point. BHO managed to improve on the Bush ‘Democracy Project’ with ‘Arab Spring’ which created the incredibly destructive internal war in Syria and left Libya a broken country prey to Islamacists and almost delivered Egypt to Islamacists. Why did Pence even go to an event paid for by AEI the K Street globalist mouthpiece anti-Trump organization?

There's a reason why Cheney had this conversation with VP Mike Pence instead of President Trump.

President Trump wouldn't even return a phone call from that @sshole.

P.S. — Mike Pence is a “neo-con” globalist just like Cheney.

Warmonger Cheney pushed for the crazy Iraq war that killed 6000 of our best young men and women, maimed and psychologically damaged thousands more, ruined the country of Iraq, and cost us, according to a Brown University study, nearly six TRILLION dollars. He’s a real genius, this holder of five draft deferments (marriage and school) who said the in retrospect, “Vietnam just wasn’t on my agenda”. Well, it WAS for 58,000 of your fellow Americans, you meddlesome warmonger creep.

Seeing references to a transcript, I searched in vain for a transcript but I did notice that the report, which I read in full, says that this is a report from someone not authorized to report and then rigid and into a story by a second party, a reporter presumably from the Washington Post.

It sounds like hearsay on hearsay and as such I put very little credence in the tone which the writer seeks to inject into the exchange between the vice president and the former vice president, nor do I infer that any of the questions themselves properly exposed Cheney as a severe critic of the administration.

An actual transcript might be dispositive, right now all we have is the administration hating Washington Post reporting thirdhand between a vice president whom they hate and a former vice president whom they really hate concerning the policies of the president whom they really, really hate.

Fake news?

Good call out. From the article, “The transcript was provided by a person familiar with the meeting who was not authorized to share material from the event. All attendees had agreed to keep the discussions “off the record,” the person said.”

He should have kept his head down. A deep inspection of his role in US foreign policy would necessarily result in lots of people calling for a rope.
