Yes, that’s a good idea. Just sending a letter would work. I did check out youtube but as of last night, the hearing was not on there. I’ll check again today.

Well, it’s talking about during a campaign, I think.

I really need to get more details from Cong. Jordan’s office.

Yes, weird. The article says the Dems want a floor vote on this bill this week so they are rushing it out of committees and hoping nobody reads it.

But Congressman Jordan DID read it (or someone on his staff read it).

I just have to get a transcript at least of the committee where Jordan quizzed the Free Speech guy. Then, I can post here the major outrages of this bill.

You’re very welcome. I plan to post more details if I can just locate them.

Hopefully someone will file lawsuits to stop this blatant disregard for the Constitution by these states who are passing such a law.

You are so right. When, if the Dems EVER have total power, I am convinced our nation will be OVER as we have known it.

A “stopped clock” moment for the ACLU. They are still the enemy of the Republic.

“And stop giving bills a nice fuzzy name when it is really a $hit sandwich that has nothing to do with the name”.

Exactly. The Left/Communists are masters of deception and one example is how they name things. It fools the Useful Idiots.

“People For the American Way” is only one example.

This HR 1 if it ever became law would make criminals of everybody who speaks out against an elected official if I understood correctly this discussion

Do they not see how this would hamstring the MSM?

It is all about selective enforcement. As this is a federal bill, he who controls the federal enforcement agencies decides who gets to speak, and who does not.

I hate bills that use extremely vague words.

From the Institute for Free speech: Specifically, H.R. 1 would: Unconstitutionally regulate speech that mentions a federal candidate or elected official at any time under a severely vague, subjective, and broad standard that asks whether the speech “promotes,” “attacks,” “opposes,” or “supports” (“PASO”) the candidate or official.

THANK GOD that Senator McConnell says it won’t even be brought to the floor in the Senate. I know some here do not like Sen. McConnell. But on this issue he is our last line of defense except for a Presidential veto.

Hardly. McConnell is no hero here. This bill would prevent K Street lobbyists from enriching GOP Senators so naturally he is opposing it.

If they won’t accept emails from other than constituants, what makes you think a Congresscritter’s staff would even open a snail mail letter if the return address is out of district?

Yes they are. It just shows that this bill, HR1, is so horrendous even the ACLU cannot endorse it.

Surely we know that this bill would benefit the Dems more than the Repubs.

Whatever his reason, I am very glad he will not let this bill get to the floor of the Senate. It is an outrageous bill.

All - thanks to ding_dong_daddy_from_dumas in post #52, we have the essence of the hearing on Cspan although it does not include Congressman Jordan’s questions, it points out exactly what is in this huge monstrosity of a dangerous bill. From The Institute for Free Speech.

https://www.ifs.org/expert-analysis/analysis-of-h-r-1-part-one/

I did an email from Sen. McConnell’s website to encourage him to definitely prevent this bill, HR1, from coming to the Senate Floor and to thank him (I know, I know) for his work to prevent the leftists in the House from succeeding with their determination to destroy our country.
