Facebook Inc said on Friday that it filed a lawsuit along with Instagram in U.S. federal court against four companies and three people based in the People’s Republic of China for promoting the sale of fake accounts, likes and followers.
In a blog post, the company said the accused people and companies promoted the sales on both Facebook and Instagram as well as other online service providers including Amazon, Apple, Google, LinkedIn and Twitter.

I have a difficult time in applying the label of “High/Big Tech” or even “tech” to FakeBook.
“Big Data” maybe.

Those are probably Obama and Hillary’s twitter “followers.”
This is really interesting. I’ll tell you why. All those companies, both Facebook and Instagram as well as other online service providers including Amazon, Apple, Google, and Twitter. Are banned in china.
Now what is it? Is there a “great firewall of china”, or isn’t there? And if there is, then how can anyone in china, peoples republic of, be liable for things that occur outside of their jurisdiction.
What’s gonna happen now? Ol’ zuckerssberger is gonna arrange for some one to detain some Chinese company executive in Canada like Huawei? Is that what is going to happen?

Discovery ought to be pretty interesting when it shows Facebook, Twitter and Instagram doing exactly what they are accusing.
I don’t see why having a fake FaceBook account is illegal nor selling one. FaceBook may not like it, but is it any different than an author using a pen name or an actor using a stage name?
This is Facebook trying to cut off sources of fake accounts that Democrats and Republicans use to spread political messaging around election time.
This way only Dems will have fake accounts next election cycle.
