Tenn. Governor Bill Lee says he regrets wearing Confederate uniform

A photo of Governor Bill Lee has surfaced depicting him wearing a Confederate uniform while attending an "Old South" party with his fraternity, Kappa Alpha.

The yearbook page in the "Greek Life" section features a caption saying:

"...KA is based on the ideals that its founding fathers saw exemplified in their college president, Robert E. Lee. These ideals constituted the frame and fabric of Southern Culture and include chivalry, valor, loyalty and reverence for womankind. It is for this reason that KA at Auburn Univ. each spring has a week long celebration of the grandeur and glory of the OLD SOUTH."

This is total insanity. One cannot wear even a costume from our past? And he apologizes for it! Are costume parties out now? And what about doing an historical film?

If a confederate soldier is bad, what does that make a democrat? Seriously, democrats are the party of slavery. They are not just wearing the cloths, they are living the principal.

He must resign immediately! Anything less applies only to a Democrat.

This virtue signaling horseshitz is getting way out of hand. Groups Renact civil war battles, Custer’s last stand and all manner of historical events. People need to pull their heads out of their arse or get a plexiglas belly button so they can see.

Any man, or woman for that matter, who does this mea culpa nonsense to placate the PC crowd is a disgraceful, cowardly person, IMHO.

Unfortunately, that actually crossed my mind as I rewatched Ken Burns’ “The Civil War.” There will come a time when even historical images of the men who led and fought for the Confederacy will be purged. They’ve gotten the statues, that is next.

Sadly, this is the world we live in now.

In other words, stark raving mad.

Just ask Vic Mignogna. He apologized “if he made anyone uncomfortable” for consensually kissing a fan on the cheek. Boom! Admission of guilt! Fired!

That commie America-hating scum boring Burns wouldn’t mind at all that Confederate anything be eradicated.

It was an OLD SOUTH party, but I guess that in and of itself would be bad enough, without the uniform.

As a side issue, I have read some concern that Civil War re-enactment will see a decline because of this kind of backlash against the CSA uniform. Some Confederate re-enactors are reluctant to continue to appear in the uniform because of irrational reactions such as this. And it’s pretty hard to re-enact a battle with only the troops from one side.

As a history buff who sees this as a great effort to bring history to life for people, I think this is a tragedy.

It wouldn’t do any good to say that there were slave states in the Union, or that the war was about preserving the Union, not slavery.

"There will come a time when even historical images of the men who led and fought for the Confederacy will be purged."

And then - and this is where this is going - it will be the men who led and fought for the Union. The founding fathers. Trust me.

This is why I don't buy any of this crap, because it will never end. There is no appeasement possible, accede to one demand and there will be a dozen more. There's also nothing wrong with chivalry, loyalty, honor, and all those things. Or is there?? Maybe Gov. Lee can explain, since he's aparently had a change of heart.

I always felt that states rights was the camels back and slavery and the right of a state to leave the Union was the straw that broke it. Lincoln intended to preserve the Union. Doing so had to abolish slavery as part of that effort. IMO

These stupid ass people make me sick!! Hello???? Tennessee was a SOUTHERN STATE and all this didn’t start becoming a real problem until 2016. How many monuments have been moved? How many Republicans have been shamed (even though they ask for it because they won’t stand up for themselves)?? How much more are we supposed to take of this insanity??? Start giving it back to the bytchers and tell them to get over it.......it happened......at least they’re not as bad as the DEMONRATS from the past (and still bad today). Just a few short years ago the Demons had an ex KKK member that said the N word on national TV and where was the outrage??? I’ve had it!!!
