Well, not living in the perfect gardening spot in the world like you do, I can only grow Irish taters in the late winter/early spring.

The weather here gets too hot and humid by May and they’ll disease out by then.

So, planted 15/6 February = ready end of May. Any later and I’ll get potato marbles/golf balls.

Sweet taters get planted after the Irish ones are dug out.

Hell, I think it’s pretty remarkable that you can grow potatoes in Alabama.
BTW we all wind up with golf balls now and then. In my case after a cold shower!
