Rasmussen Reports poll as Trump at 52 per cent approval, his best showing in 23 months and a higher number than his winning edge in 2016 Significant up-swing since government-shutdown low of 43 per cent New numbers were collected in the three days immediately following State of the Union address Asked what Monday's number mean, a senior Democratic House aide confided on background: 'I don't know yet if it's horrible, but it sure isn't good' Polling average is just 42.4 per cent, including mostly those surveys that are open to all Americans; Rasmussen polls only 'likely voters'

Donald Trump's job approval rating among likely U.S. voters hit 52 per cent on Monday in a daily tracking poll conducted by Rasmussen Reports, the polling organization he uses most frequently to promote himself.

That number is his highest since March 6, 2017, less than seven weeks after he took office. It has been even longer since Trump's 'strongly approve' and 'strongly disapprove' numbers weren't under water. They were even at 39 per cent on Monday.

Overall, 47 per cent of likely voters disapprove of Trump's Oval Office performance. That's a low water mark since November 2, 2018.

Monday's numbers came from surveys conducted during the three weekdays following the president's State of the Union address. It's not unusual for presidents to get a polling 'bump' after the high-profile annual address.

Trump could use the groundswell now more than ever: A Friday deadline looms for the White House and congressional Democrats to hash out a budget deal to avoid a second government shutdown.

The SOTU was a good trap play on the Dems. He was presidential and they were their usual ahole selves. Served as a good illustration of the contrast.

There was probably an emergency meeting at NYT Headquarters this morning. Topic: “How can we get that approval rating number back down into the low 40’s or even less?
What must we do, say or appear to say?”

but, but, the media universally panned the speech.

Van Jones said it was a disjointed mess and included dog poop.

You mean people aren’t listen to Van Jones????

LOVE this President!!!
I wish I could say I love republi-turds half as much!
Imagine where us conservatives could be if the scumbag R’s actually backed this President, as opposed to having an all out war against him!

When Americans actually see Trump, they like Trump.
The media spins a constant negative narrative, and omits the real Trump.
That’s what he’s up against.
“Fake news!”, he calls it.

But we knew that.
Sounding off to the sound board again

Great news like this always justifies a few more kilobytes on the ole server. Wish people worried as much about GOTV as they do about thread policing.

The only senator who looked as grumpy at the SOTU as Sen. Hirono (D-HI) was Sen. McConnell (R-KY). Disgraceful performance by both.

Approval/disapproval numbers are generic and volatile.

Ask specific questions, and let’s see where people stand on specific issues and specific accomplishments, such as:

Do you approve of the lowest unemployment number for blacks ever recorded, which occurred under president Trump?

Do you approve of the lowest unemployment number for Hispanics ever recorded, which occurred under president Trump?

Do you approve of the lowest unemployment number ever recorded for women, which occurred under president Trump?

Do you approve of more people working than ever before in American history, and which occurred under president Trump?

Do you approve of the best economic growth to have occurred in decades, and which occurred because of president Trump’s economic policies?

Do you approve of Trump’s foreign policy, which has brought the N. Korean president to the table to discuss nuclear disarmament, which had not occurred ever before, and which is occurring now under Trump?

Do you approve of Trump’s trade policies which seek to get better and fairer deals for the U.S.?

Do you approve of Trump’s border wall policies and immigration policies, which seek to prevent illegal immigration?

Do you approve of Trump’s anti-abortion stance, which seeks to prevent the murder of babies just about to be born after 9 months in the mothers’ wombs?

And many more...

Let’s get specific and drop the generic polls.

How would people respond to a specific question about much lower unemployment for all Americans? Who would not approve of such accomplishments?
