The kid is gone but weve never been out on Valentines Day. I was a bartender for many years and worked my share of every single holiday. Seen it all. You couldnt pay me to go out on any of them. I always buy a nice steak and a couple of lobster tails from the meat market and we have a very nice meal at home.
Part of the reason Im over it is because after many years as a stay at home mom, I started waitressing. Valentines = $ for the past three years.
Im at a new place now and am the newest hire; figured that I wouldnt get to work that night. I was so grateful when the owner gave me the choice of whether I wanted to work that night or not. Yes!
February is tournament time in wrestling; when all the kids were young and I was home alone with them from the moment they woke up until they went to bed I craved a date night with my husband and Valentines was just one more thing that we couldnt do because of wrestling. And I miss those days of having nothing to do but care for my sweet kiddos. I now have obligations outside the home seven days a week. Snow day cancellations have been a huge blessing this winter!
