Two Palestinians died Monday and several others injured after Egyptian troops pumped toxic fumes into a smuggling tunnel stretching into the Sinai Peninsula from the Gaza Strip.
The Hamas-run Gaza Interior Ministry was quoted by Wafa news as identifying the two as 39-year-old Hamas officer Abdul Hamid al-Aker, who was killed during a “security mission to inspect the tunnel,” and 28-year-old Sobhi Abu Qarshin. Abu Qarshin was said to have died during a rescue attempt.
Several other security personnel were rescued by civil defense teams from inside the tunnel and were rushed to hospital, where they were described as being in moderate condition.
The ministry did not say what gas was used by the Egyptians.
Egypt has in the past flooded Hamas tunnels along the Gaza Strip with seawater or sewage, and has destroyed hundreds of homes on the Egyptian side of Rafah to remove the smuggling tunnels used by Gazans.

NO WAIT, it's an attack on the phantom group known as Palestinians, that's a favorite of the UN, surely they'll... Oh, right, by a Muslim country, never mind.
But WAIT! It's just migrants seeking a new life of... Oh, right, going into Egypt, they're just smuggling stuff. NO WAIT, it's smuggling needed supplies since Israel is starving them out, right? Surely.. Oh, forgot again, a Muslim country killing Muslims.

Why can’t we do that to the Mexican drug cartels who keep digging massive tunnels into this country for human and drug smuggling purposes? The drug cartels are worse than animals. We need to exterminate them like the vermin that they are.

I always used to confuse those two.
Oh, noes! I haz a sad.
Suggestion for a simple cost effective tunnel clearance method. Go to Texas and capture 10 wild hogs. Starve them for a few days, then turn them loose in the tunnel and block off the entrance. By the time they get to the other side, the tunnel will be cleaned out and you will have at least 50 hogs for your next project.
So do I...but I've never ignited!
Well, tie a piece of paper towel to a broom handle and ignite the fumes. You get a very very satisfactory WHOOOMP.
