Thousands of Saudis were flown out of US right after 9/11 while no one else was flying.
Saudis were captured after Boston bombing as persons of interest and then released and flown back to Saudi.
It is good to be Saudi.
Not defending Saudi’s - but how many illegals skip out on their criminal court date?
Check the flight schools.
I can only say, as a US citizen, that I wish I had the confidence that my government would work that hard for me if I got in trouble overseas. Trump’s a lot better than Obama in this regard. Under Barack, I had the definite impression that he could care less if a US citizen got in trouble overseas. He was too eager to take the other country’s part, especially if it was one of the 57 States.
O.K. I get it. It seems the Saudi government has helped/may be helping Saudi nationals in the U.S. skip U.S. court dates and get out the country.
But a more complete report would see what nationals of any other countries are achieving the same sort of thing, and among them where does it seem they get assistance from their home country in skipping U.S. courts.
I think it is most likely not just a “Saudi” problem.
Saudi students have been educated in American universities since....... forever.
I know of one who was at UCLA and was included in the round up at the time Sirhansirhan killed Bobby Kennedy. After being briefly detained, they were released.
Over the years, Saudi’s have learned that the maximum bang for the educational buck comes from small state universities. They eschew the large state party universities seen as dens of iniquity.
To tar Saudi students with the Chinese spy brush is just plain bigotry
President Trump can solve this very directly and quickly. Tell Saudis to return all of these people with 24 hours, else cancel all visas of any type.
No, Saudis are lazy and often engage in crimes, Chinese are spies. Deal with it. Send them all home and free those seats up for American citizens! No foreign students should ever attend an American school if there is an American student that can be put in that classroom. And don’t give me BS that our students don’t qualify. There are many and plenty that do!
When my dad was a lad, foreign governments would NOT eff with American citizens, because the full might of the US government would fall on them if they did.
Um, I think that skipping bail isn’t a problem limited to Saudi’s. Ever seen Dog the bounty hunter?
The best passports are French and Russian. Both nations has questionable record on civil rights but Lord forbids any other country to hurt their citizen. That is a sort of medieval sovereign concept. They’d put all the pressure on weaker countries and would hire the best lawyers in the countries they can’t threaten or buy.
It’s one thing when the citizen is grabbed or abused by a foreign power; it’s quite another when (as with the Saudis) a clear crime is committed, one which would obviously be treated harshly at home. Get ‘em counsel, but they ought to face the music.
Hang them before they leave.
Why should any President care about an American that breaks the law in another country?
Aside from their access to counsel, he shouldn’t.
My point is, increasingly, our government has seemed to care less whether the American really broke the law in a meaningful way, or was just arrested as a useful hostage or political pawn. Do you remember the Marine who got arrested in Mexico with a rifle? He had called the San Diego police, said he had taken the wrong turn, and couldn’t get off the road to the Mexican checkpoint. He hoped to declare at the checkpoint and turn right around. Instead, he was arrested and had a pretty tough time in prison for a year or so, before some pressure eventually got him out. There was a time when that would not have happened.
The Saudis, on the other hand, protect the citizen in spite of his clearly breaking the law.
That is basically because every Saudi in US is a member of some sort of noble family which seniors know Bushes or Clintons. Phone calls do wonders.
Saudis are Muslims and do not have to obey Infidel made laws. -Tom
WINNING ! MAGA !
After reading that article two days ago, I posted a comment about Islam and the right to rape infidel women. The comment was gone in 3 minutes.
