Immigration is needed. If you bring in WORKERS it’s fine. If they fit a need of the country that’s exactly what should happen. The problem is bringing in people who don’t work but who are going to collect checks. Merit based systems are the only systems that make any sense.

You don’t understand. The issue is real income has been stagnant since the 70’s. By far the biggest cause has been the huge ramping up of immigration both legal and illegal.

The number one way you restore real income per citizen is to let the labor supply settle at a somewhat higher real income over many industries and professions.

Just like some on the Left want price controls to artificially lower prices, those on the wealthy Right want to artificially flood the country to drive down real income per citizen to give them huge profits.

High immigration keeps real incomes down, hurts middle-class families due to very real financial pressures, loads the Dems with cheap labor and voters using the education system and media.

Without proper assimilation, high immigration is the number one way empires break up and turmoil ensues.

By advocating higher immigration than we have now, Trump is not only going back on a crucial campaign promise, he is adding to the forces that will continue to rip the country apart.

At 330 million people, the USA, as a civilization/empire etc., is probably due for a split, and it will accelerate that process by increasing immigration even more than the already high rates of immigration.

It all comes down to the math, human nature, and our political system. It just does.

Expect the tension between the two sides to continue, and if Trump pushes for even more immigration, expect grumbling on the Right and the possibility that Trump loses enough voters where it could cost him enough votes in PA, WI, and MI to let the Dem get the White House in 2020.

Tough times are a comin.
