Northam has no real value to them
It’s been obvious since he started backtracking Saturday, that his “story” has more holes in it than a rowboat with a screen door bottom. I don’t think a swimming pool full of of Flex Seal could stop him from sinking at this point. Whether he actually drowns or not remains to be seen .... right now, he gets “nothing” if he resigns and he has nothing to lose if he stays since he has a 3 year term left & can’t run for re-election.
The Dems either need to sweeten the pot & give him “something” or they need to release ‘the kraken’ with whatever additional dirt they can find to make it more miserable than his current situation and possibly drive him out or come up with current ammo to impeach. After sleeping (or not) on it Friday night, I think Northam is attempting to follow the “Sanford Model” ... SC Governor Sanford refused to resign, was censured, but not impeached, and finished out his term.

This is a good example of bad crisis management. Among other things, you can’t change your story like that, and expect to be believed.
I don’t get the sideshow of the Michael Jackson dance contest. Was he saying he did blackface then, and implying that he thought that is what everyone was talking about, and not the yearbook???

Northam steps in it big by justifing infanticide, then doubles-down when given a change to retract.
Dems know this is highly unpopular and will cost them votes and support. But they can’t go after any Democrat on abortion.
So miraculously the lump of kryptonite appears two days later. Racism earns you the death penalty these days, just look at the number of people who have had to resign for just uttering the N word. It’s the perfect way for them to take Northam out and let Justin Fairfax advance another step.
But Northam knows he’s being set-up and refutes their evidence.
Now whose side are you on? Defending unpopular but free speech or piling on with every Democrat of any importance and all their uniparty and media sympathizers?
The key lies in “who released the photo?”
I have asked this question on other forums about Northam. Why are the dims so upset here on the possible satire on black face or KKK? They praised Senator Robert Byrd many times when he was the Grand Wizard of the KKK. Hypocrites?
I read some of the comments on slate. Some are defending him only so far as saying “he’s probably not a racist now” — I guess they haven’t seen his blatant televised refusal to shake his black opponent’s hand. The opponent extends the hand, then eventually taps his hand on Northam’s knee for the photo op handshake, is still not even acknowledged, and shrugs in obvious bewonderment.

Listening to NPR this morning (I know, sorry) my takeaway on their coverage is the Democrats are desperate for the governor to resign and remove the issue from the news cycle so they can continue to tag Republicans as the rascists.
Maybe the black opponent whose hand he refused to shake, became the Lt. Gov? Maybe he will soon actually be gov.
He admitted he has appeared in blackface. It’s alright to appear in blackface in a Michael Jackson contest? His transgression is that he appeared in blackface. He is lying. The only reason he mentioned the Michael Jackson contest is that he is afraid there pictures out there of him in blackface for the Michael Jackson contest.
No matter what, Northam is damaged goods politically. He should have have admitted to anything if he was not one of the people in the photo.
If he stays, he’ll be a millstone around Virginia Democrats for the rest of his term. It will potentially be a factor in the 2020 Presidential Election.

The photo, in the grand scheme of things, is meaningless.
He made fun of blacks. Blacks make fun of whites. Whites make fun of blacks. And so on.
The fact that he’s not in trouble over baby murder makes the already small importance of the photo nearly meaningless.
