A veteran police captain is suing the Los Angeles Police Department after a naked photo wrongly believed to be her was shared among officers.
Lillian L. Carranza claims bosses knew the 'deeply humiliating' image was being circulated within the department but 'took no steps' to inform the 50-year-old and did nothing to stop it.
The lawsuit also alleges department chiefs made no effort to clarify the image being passed around was not of the 28-year veteran.

In her lawsuit, filed Friday, Carranza blasts the department for tolerating a sexist culture that subjects women to persistent verbal harassment.
The police captain specifically names LAPD Deputy Chief Debra McCarthy, and accuses her of making no effort to stop the image being circulated, despite being aware of it since November.
Carranza claims she explicitly asked McCarthy to make it clear that the image being circulated was not of her, but said her request fell on deaf ears.
In the legal document, Carranza also claims she was harassed in 2013 by a detective supervisor who told her she was a 'very cute little Hispanic lady' who has been 'swapped around a bunch of times'.
She says the harassment was captured on an audio recording.
In the lawsuit, the LAPD Captain claims a nude image of another detective, Ysabel Villegas, was also passed around the force.
Villegas reported last November that she had become the victim of revenge porn after an officer she was having an affair with sent naked photos of her to other cops.
One day before filing her lawsuit, Carranza tweeted #MeToo in response to the R Kelly documentary.
An LAPD police spokesperson declined comment.

I guess, by filing this lawsuit, Captain wanted to let everyone know that her nude photo does not exist out there somewhere...
She must have been really frustrated with LAPD management...
About "very cute little Hispanic lady" comment...The supervisor who made that comment was an idiot...
This Captain sued LAPD before...She claimed retaliation by management because she claimed that LAPD is under-reporting crimes...
A few years ago, some nude pictures came out...Some people, on Internet, mentioned Misty May-Treanor, a beach volleyball legend, as the woman in the pictures...Remember a few years ago many nude photos of celebrities were leaked... May-Treanor did not file a police report because, she said, those nude photos were fake...
Golden parachute, have a great retirement, thank you for your service
Look at that mouth on her. She is clearly RBG’s granddaughter.
Yeah, this seems to be a good way of letting everyone know that the photos were not of her. Good for her in fighting back.
She seems full of herself to warrant the belief
Agreed, that mouth is definitely something else, IMO less than attractive.
In regards to other parts of the article, I do not understand how being called a cute hispanic lady could be sexists or whatever. It’s not demeaning, it’s a mild compliment.
IMO a normal woman would receive that sort of remark as a compliment as long as there were no obvious sexual motivations accompanying it.
Being upset over the cute remark is similar to what she’s doing now, being humiliated over a photo that is not of her. I think there’s a screw or two lose.
She obviously thinks she’s hot, what a maroon
You have been warned...
Worse than Margaret Thatcher naked on a cold day?
Not screw loose she is trying to shake some money loose from the city.
NOT GUILTY!

No news here IMHO. For crying out loud, its foregone knowledge that cops have about zero sense of honor when it comes to this sort of thing. Almost ALL cops believe that they are ‘above’ most natural human core values of decency and respect. So many cops go into the force because they love to rough people up and many others are seduced by the power that the badge, gun, night stick, taser, and pepper spray, (and above all the law) give them...it pervades their subconscious.
The dirtbags that they deal with reinforce their lack of humanity and mean spiritedness.
...I still respect them where its due.
But this, like 99.9% of civil cases of this sort,is simply a greedy, filthy lawyer suing an entity with deep pockets.
It reminds me a bit of the lawyer who decided to sue Shell Oil after that huge, deadly fire about 10 years ago at a Rhode Island nightclub. The "logic" was that Shell sponsored the tour of the band that caused the fire through their negligence.
!
Lemme guess...
Youre writing this from prison...?
She ought to spit that out.
I pray the truth will out.
Prayers up for Captain Carranza.
#2 Why should the department get involved in preventing people from sharing photographs not of her? -Did the other officers lose their free speech somehow?
#3 The passed around pretty little hispanic comment was in poor taste. However, has she been passed around the department? Not excusing his behavior, but maybe, just maybe, she had a reputation and he was inquiring if it was his turn.
