Looks like Bolton baited the media snickers.
We have a very close military relationship with Colombia.
5,000 troops would need considerable staging and logistics and weapons and armor and artillery, etc. The Venezuelan civil war is not going to wait that long.
We can send in a Marine Corp MEU or two very quickly that would quickly secure the key areas and airfields.
Our Naval and Air Force airpower would quickly degrade any resistance.
Venezuela is moving most of its armor to the Colombian border.
The best squeeze is financial, Maduro won’t be able to pay the military and this will be over quickly.

Good points. Any action by the US would mean a surrender within hours..if not minutes. As far as Colombia is concerned..the are good and train constantly with ours...but the lack the killer instinct.
