What is Resistance?

As a person of Polish heritage with a deep appreciation of the bravery and heroics of the Polish Home Army and associated groups during WW2 it’s been irritating to watch the American Left pick up the term “Resistance” and take it as their own.

Real resistance has a cost. Real resistance is, by definition, an act of desperation by a conquered people. Keith Olbermann ranting on cable TV is not resistance. SIRUS-XM’s “Progress” rebranding itself “Home of the Resistance” is merely pathetic LARPing.

For all the fake-fear that the Left claims to feel since Trump won a year ago, the Left still retains control of the levers of power in our society: the news media, the academy, the cultural apparatus of Hollywood and music, the judiciary and most importantly the Deep State. To claim to be a resistance while actually controlling the commanding heights of society is false and pathetic.

The Deep State has, from day one, felt they could void the troubling election results and remove Trump using extra-electoral processes. And thus was born the narrative of Trump’s “Russian collusion”, the “stolen election”, “Russian hacking” and other assorted Leftist propaganda memes.

The Deep State actors have been churning away for a year, and it now appears likely that sometime in the not-too-distant future we will find that Trump is being impeached, or indicted, or both. A drowning chorus of fake-resisters will lecture us incessantly about the need to remove Trump immediately.

The so-called Resistance are in fact the exact opposite, they are simply the useful idiots of the Deep State. The Olbermann Korps bear more resemblance to the Government of Poland in the era of Soviet Occupation. Headed by quislings, and utterly unconcerned with the people of the land, instead serving an alien agenda.

Returning to the Polish resistance, the final battle in the war is known to history as the “Warsaw Rising“. The goal was simple: to liberate Poland from Nazi occupation. While the Poles had, quite literally ‘lost the war’ and were an occupied nation, they had not lost their identity, and they had not lost their Army. On Aug 1,1944 they rose as a force and drove the Nazi’s out of central Warsaw. Fierce fighting continued, the allies of the Polish failed to come to their aid. The Russians sat across a river a few miles away and watched. The American Army followed the wishes of Stalin, and stayed out of the fight. Only Churchill sent an air-drop, by a combined British, Polish and Italian Air Force. Too little, too late.

This was the largest resistance operation of WW2, and one of the largest military resistance battles by an occupied people in history. It involved hundreds of thousands of patriotic Poles. The Polish Boy Scouts captured a Nazi tank in the opening days of the battle, painted the Boy Scouts fleur-de-lis on it, and campaigned it for the remainder of the battle. The fighting was savage. During the urban combat 1/4 of Warsaw’s buildings were destroyed.

It was not enough. The cost in lives was huge. An estimated 16,000 members of the Polish resistance were killed and about 6,000 badly wounded. In addition, between 150,000 and 200,000 Polish civilians died, mostly from mass executions. The ultimate cost to Poland would be another 40 years of occupation, this time by their Russian Soviet “allies” who came as the new foreign occupiers to replace the withdrawing German Nazis.

It’s worthwhile to put our problems in perspective, and not appropriate the terms of real heroes for our own pathetic political dust-ups, be we on Team Blue or Team Red. Can anyone imagine Keith Olbermann crawling through a sewer to ambush opponents with a beat up Mauser? I think not.
