There is a finite group of people who can be happy as a coder. If you don’t like it, you will HATE it

This is quite true, especially when one considers that code cares not a whit about one's "feels." Perhaps these Journalists can take to panhandling. That line of work allows for a lot of human interaction and is a very "outdoorsy" profession. The sticking point is that panhandling IS performance-based, so they may be s**t outta luck.

“One of the most FUN threads I’ve read in years!!”

Layback and feel the schadenfreude!

The larger question is what educational institution would grant such a worthless piece of paper?

It’s not worthless if you want to be an English professor. You won’t get paid very much and you will probably get paid by the class.

I write software and neither love it or hate it. I look at it a mental blue collar work that is in demand. Does a plumber love sweating pipe? He doesn’t have to love it to be a successful plumber. Is there joy in getting a program to work? Yes, the feeling lasts about a minute.

Just a guess, but I’m thinking the ‘culture/gender/politics reporter’ would be one who writes meaningless stuff about how 97% of the population are a bunch of big meanies.

If the Dimbulb leftists at HuffPo have no use for these people ...where do these ‘educated journalists’ look for employment?

And that twitter post to that person from Politically_Incorrect is absolutely hilarious!

The difference is that many newspapers let you know outright where their partisan loyalties were (there was an editorial declaration that a newspaper was aligned with one party or another).

Yes. For most of the history of the Republic, most media was openly partisan.

Only during the Progressive era did the media pretend to be objective.

We are moving back to the healthier partisan media.

Then you are one of the Drones.

Me, I *LOVE* it.

I love solving puzzles.

AND THEY PAY ME FOR IT!

Her degree is, supposedly, narrowly focused on Romantic Comedies. Not exactly a demanding field that commands respect in academia (Yes, even in the Ivory Tower, her Ph.D. is akin to being something that you find in a box of Cracker Jacks).

I don’t get emotional about earning a living. I get emotional about family, friends and things that are more important.

My code is my family. My HLD/LLD/PAD/LAD designs are my friends.

I'm getting teary-eyed just thinking about it.

ABSOLUTELY.

Of course, there is the pay-offset of +150% I will need to apply.
