You are beyond self-deluded. Human nature does not change. Civil Wars are not a "thing of the past". The factions forming and hardening in America today are quite literally incompatible. They will not keep rolling along suffering massive setbacks against their most fervently-held beliefs and desires with every 52-48% election result.
If your rose-colored glasses are so thick that you cannot see that Presidential candidates now call half of the population "Deplorable", that all RNC rallies in urban areas can now expect violent "protest groups", that journalists and celebrities can openly call for assaults on CHILDREN for the grave sin of wearing a red hat... and that the other side will not tolerate being treated as second-class citizens in need of re-education or else death... then you're just ignoring reality at your own peril.
We are already in a civil war and it is getting more uncivil on their part by the minute. I am just waiting for it to go hot.
If the colors were reversed and some black high school students stood calmly while some white men cursed and insulted them for an hour with the vilest names they could think of, would the high school kids be the evil ones?
