Easily provable, show us your DD-214 sir. For non vets, this is the discharge paper. On it will show what service you were in, what years of service, the character of your discharge (honorable or not) and the list of your medals/ribbons/citations. Under the medals section, if he served in Vietnam, he will have the Vietnam Service Medal on it.

I’m not going to claim the guy is lying. I am going to claim it’s damn improbable that he actually served there - given how very, very few Marines were in country after 72-73.

And his propagandists have many, many examples of lying about service in pursuit of political power. Gore was in the rear because his dad knew he needed the badge-and-pass, Kerry was in country for less than 100 days.

And made an entire career out of those 96 days. He spent more days negotiating with the communists in Nicaragua and Paris than fighting them.

If he refused to show it, that would set out red flags to me. He wouldn't deserve any title in my mind until he showed it. We could also ask him, what unit he was in, what part of the country he served in. Within five to ten minutes of talking to him, most vets would be able to figure out if he's lying or not. I also believe you can get some of the information through FOIA requests, at least what time he was in the service and what branch of service.
