Martin Luther King was no prophet of unity. He was a radical
The Guardian ^ | 21 Jan 2019 | Bhaskar Sunkara

[...] The Disneyified version of Dr King begins and ends with his role as a civil rights leader, who summoned Christian teachings, as well as Gandhian tactics, and told us of his dream that “one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.’”

[...] Martin Luther King Jr was a part of a much wider movement, standing alongside socialists such as Ella Baker, Bayard Rustin, and A Philip Randolph in not just attempting to dismantle the Jim Crow system, but replacing it with an egalitarian social democracy. [...] As he put it in 1967: “We aren’t merely struggling to integrate a lunch counter now. We’re struggling to get some money to be able to buy a hamburger or a steak when we get to the counter.” [...]

Funny how they don't mention the Disneyifying that relinquishes to the memory hole his plagiarism and adultery.

The majority of pro-leftists, probably, don’t know that The King Family, including MLK, are/were registered Republicans.

He was not perfect.
But he did preach non-violence and “content of your character”
Today’s generation has no clue what that means.

He still achieved a level of greatness in spite of his personal peccadilloes. At the very least, he showed great personal courage.

He resistered as a Republican but privately always identified as a Marxist.

His father DID legally change his name to Martin Luther King Sr., merely asking his congregatio to refer to his son as Martin Luther King Jr., a request they honored.

His name, though, remained MIKE KING.

50% of his PhD thesis was plagiarized and he regularly cheated on his wife and used prostitutes, many of whom he beat up.

Was his cause just? Was he hugely charismatic..?

Yes.

“The Republican Party geared its appeal and program to racism, reaction, and extremism. All people of goodwill viewed with alarm and concern the frenzied wedding at the Cow Palace of the KKK with the radical right.”

Stanley David Levison, rich salesman, political intellectual and uber southern commie.

THIS is the super lefty who first recognized MLK's other-wordly oratory powers, later writing many of his speeches. He hated Christianity but as a politically ruthless activist, saw that religion in the southern poor could be weaponized as a vehicle to transform America.

Levison sent King to a school house that was converted into a training academy for up and coming communists.

Originally Hoover was NOT interested in surveilling MLK, it was LEVISON whom he despised. MLK got swept up in the net originally cast for Levison.

At several junctures in private, Levison voiced contempt for his protege MLK.

Seems that everybody is for the "poor and oppressed".
Doesn't seem like anyone understands the problem.

As a kid I recall how MLK was referred to as a radical. But history has proven he wanted change through peaceful means for the betterment of his race. I do not think this guy was a racist, hater of our founding fathers or our form of government. He just hated discrimination, and I cannot blame him for that.

I also believe that racial relations continued to improve up through about the mid 90’s where it leveled off. Then around 2008 relations took a sharp nose dive into the pits of Hell.

Gee, I wonder what happened in 2008?

Amen

MLK was flawed and that said, without him, Blacks would be much worse off and things would have taken longer to dissolve the racist Jim Crow laws.

Most ignorant masses don’t know all MLK’s flaws; you know what? They never will. And we have to pick out battles. Do we want to die on the hill of MLK was a socialist, aldulterer, etc.? I don’t. I am comfortable knowing he was and letting my black brethren have that point and not spoil things for them.

I would rather educate and inform on Black Israelites who are racists in the face of the students from Covington, KY, and the fake Indian who paid by Soros confronted them and the MSM who spewed the false narrative and haven’t walked it back yet...that hill I will stand on.

Pick your battles...if you want unity, you won’t win all of them and some, just know you are right in your heart and be good enough with that.
