Sen. Steve Daines:

Washington, D.C. – Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT) spoke with Townhall Friday just prior to his speech at the March for Life rally. He explained why he’s optimistic about pro-life efforts in the Senate and why he considers President Trump to be the most pro-life president in our country’s history.

“We have the most pro-life president that we have seen in the history of our country,” he told Townhall, “when you look at both the administrative actions he’s taken as president within the White House but also moving through thirty, thirty circuit court judges, conservative judges, the most circuit court judges moved through Congress in the first two years of the presidency, in the history of the presidency and of course two new Supreme Court justices.”

Sen. Daines added that pro-life senators will be going on offense in the new Congress.

“We’re going to keep fighting, be on the offense with judges as well as with policies, we recognize we’re going to need sixty votes in this current Senate, the current Senate rules to move these policies forward but we now have more pro-life senators now than we had in the last congress,” he pointed out.

Asked about the failure of his colleague Sen. Roger Wicker’s (R-MS) attempt to pass legislation permanently prohibiting taxpayer funding of abortion, he emphasized that “we’re not going to give up the fight.”

Sen. Daines added that Democratic Senators Joe Manchin (WV) and Bob Casey (PA) voted in support of the bill, saying “it’s wonderful to see bipartisan support recognizing we need more of that but I just have great respect for my colleagues, it was nice to see Joe and Bob join us yesterday.”

In his speech at the March for Life rally, Daines announced that he was founding the first-ever pro-life caucus in the U.S. Senate.

“This pro-life caucus and our new expanded pro-life majority – thank God in November we sent more pro-life senators to the United States Senate, and that’s thanks to you,” he told those gathered. “That will allow us to accelerate the momentum of the last two years protecting and defending life.”

Daines also told Townhall that he was “very pleased” to see 48 of his colleagues sign the letter he led to President Trump asking him to veto “any policies coming out of the U.S. House under the leadership of Speaker Pelosi that would undermine any of our pro-life protections, Hyde protections, Mexico City and so forth.”

Later, in a pre-recorded message to the March, President Trump announced he had signed a letter vowing to veto legislation that undermines pro-life policies.

I suspect that this drama has been choreographed to put Nancy on the hot seat. She’ll have a bill Monday evening and will have to decide.

So we have about 6 or 7 R Senators who support abortion?

Earlier in the article he mentions at least 2 D on board with him - not sure if they signed the letter but apparently some Rs are not for it...

30 circuit court judges? The most? Let’s give credit where it’s due. That’s Harry Reid. Heh heh.

Daines didn’t count himself. So Danies and 48 other GOP members of the Senate signed the letter.

The four who did not were:

Susan Collins (ME), Lisa MooCowski (Planned Parenthood) Lamar Alexander (TN) and Shelly Moore Capito (WV).

I'd like to thank the United States Government for protecting me and my kind.

You see, 40 years ago, my odds of making it out of the egg, alive, were very poor; about 80% of us died.

But a lady discovered our plight and wrote a book that addressed our problem,
and, in 1972, a law was ammended protecting us even further. (http://www.fws.gov/midwest/eagle/protect/laws.html)

What I find strange is that the same government passed a law the very next year that allowed for killing
of unborn, and apparently unwanted, humans.  Little ones still nestled safely in their Mother's womb.
Around 25% of them are dying before birth - on average nearly 3,300 - every day of the year.

I've heard that by now, somewhere over 60 MILLION of them have perished.
Wouldn't that kind of mess up the humans plans for growth, and welfare, and
retirement?

Strange birds; these Homo Sapiens.  Perhaps they'll come to their senses
before they are ALL dead!

"Pro-lifeness" is a state matter. Keep the federal government from using pro-lifeness as a distraction from spending for completion of our wall.

MEMO TO SEN. DAINES: Are you taking large contributions to persuade you not to act on the matter of the wall?

>>we recognize we’re going to need sixty votes in this current Senate
*********************************************************

And you need 60 votes ONLY because of Turd McConnell’s refusal to change the “60 vote Senate rule”.

One vile POS, a “Republican” is the obstruction. Replacing him would open the door to real progress in MANY areas.
