“More illegals means more butts in the classroom. That in turn, requires more teachers, more teachers means more $$ for the Unions.”
That is exactly why NJ is a “sanctuary state”; between the negative white birthrate and the ongoing evacuation of Americans from this state, half our schools should simply close up - but the teachers’ unions are too powerful to let that happen. Instead, illegals pour in, and our high property taxes (3/4 of which go to public schools) climb ever high (and more Americans leave, and more illegals are trafficked in, and taxes go higher, on and on...).
Students are better off 40 to a classroom with a competent teacher than 10 to a classroom with inexperienced, poorly-trained teachers. But teacher’s unions are better off with more teachers, as it’s more heads to each pay those union dues.
Then these students graduate and sign up for college and get to sit in a room with 300 students all going to be in debt for at least $80,000 and when they graduate they cannot find a job that will pay off the debt.
But the teachers in their high school will be happy with their big fat pensions.
Fire them all - the students will be better off...
It all falls into place and makes perfect sense when you realize that they will always advocate to their own advantage. Advocating illegal immigration increases the student body and hence the government funding that is allocated per student. Complaining about “overcrowding” results in expanded schools, more teachers in the teachers union and more dues paid to the teachers union. In their mind there’s no conflict at all between advocating illegal immigration and complaining about overcrowded classrooms, they both serve the same purpose.
How can classrooms be crowded if enrollment is down and schools aren’t being closed?
