Probably for the same reason the STD rate for seniors is soaring...

Is the weed causing more unprotected sex? Or is unprotected sex causing more weed smoking? Correlation doesn't always prove causation... or so "they" say.

I don't smoke weed, but did a couple of times in Vietnam. Didn't really like it.

Fast forward 50 years and I was recently diagnosed (2016) with generalized anxiety disorder. Not a big deal, but still can be bothersome at times.
My doctor suggested Paxil, but I don't like side effects so I tried an OTC "natural" remedy, L-Theanine. Eh, it's okay, I guess.

Then a few months ago my PA suggested I try CBD oil, (with THC = 0) which is found in marijuana. I rejected her suggestion out of hand, but the more I look into it, the more I may just go for it.

“another weed thread amongst people who say they want less government in their lives”

Hey, pot is being legalized. Isn’t that resulting in less government?

I think character issues are responsible for most of both.

They have been smoking pot since the 1960’s. They just got old. It’s another windows 10 has more users than windows xp. Stupid people getting stoned and thinking they are enlightened.

Because pot cures literally everything. With a roll of bailing wire and a handful of pot flakes, you can cure decapitation

My biggest beef with this article is them calling 50 year olds “seniors”.

The writer felt using the term "old farts" would be offensive.

In some instances, that is no doubt the case, but individual facts and circumstances matter. A friend whose daughter died of an opioid overdose declined to take them for her severe arthritis and instead finds relief in a joint every evening. Her doctor told her to continue doing so as an effective and less risky therapy than the opioids he had prescribed.

The elderly follow the “use or lose it” rule when getting around. Anything that saps ambition and drive, cant be good.

Pot is a habit. Not an addiction.

I recall when a guy told me, elsewhere online, also told me that. He said he knew because he had been smoking pot for 30-40 years and he hadn’t become addicted to it.
I’m still trying to square that unique circle of logic.

Urban legend.

In reality, with duct tape, super glue and pot, a person cleaved in half can be put back together.

The duct tape and super glue to the work. The pot just manages the pain and keeps the patient still while the parts grow back together.

Makes sense to me. Having chronic bilateral pain in both shoulders, elbows and thumb joints from Cervical Radiculopathy since May of 2018, and a 2 doctors that cannot get an MRI approved, I will just continue to suffer on a pain level of 7 or greater.

Or maybe because they no longer have daily responsibilities they decided, in the privacy of their own homes, do do whatever they want to. Maybe they could afford to retire, having contributed enough to society.

Maybe at their age they have successfully handled life. Or... maybe most of all... they don't need some bluenose - trying to run everybody's life from cradle to grave - telling them everything thing they can and cannot do.

"Hey, you successful, retired geriatrics. I got a list of shit you better be doin' so's you don't travel outside the reality lane!"
