American Thinker ^ | January 15, 2019 | Thomas Lifson

Has President Trump suckered Democrats and the Deep State into a trap that will enable a radical downsizing of the federal bureaucracy? In only 5 more days of the already-“longest government shutdown in history” (25 days and counting, as of today), a heretofore obscure threshold will be reached, enabling permanent layoffs of bureaucrats furloughed 30 days or more.

Unlike any of the recent Presidents, nearly everything Pres. Trump has done has been to help the American people and the DC cesspool cannot stand that.

While Congress plays checkers, President Trump is playing 3-D chess at Spock level.

I’d start the push to privatize the TSA for starters. Then I’d move to privatize all the Park workers.

Wow - can't fire Gubmint workers, but

"...a heretofore obscure threshold will be reached, enabling permanent layoffs of bureaucrats furloughed 30 days or more."

If this was part of the plan, whoever came up with that should get a medal.

Rolling on the floor and laughing at this if it’s true.

A secondary effect would be that the demonrats would NEVER shut down the government again.

If that is indeed the plan (and I pray to God that it is), that has Miller’s fingerprints all over it.

This would be the first shot at making wholesale structural changes in how the gubmint operates and if so, may #2 on the list of DJT’s accomplishments (right behind having somewhat sane people appointed to the federal judiciary).

"The purported senior official makes the case that devotion to “process” eats up most of the time of federal bureaucrats and is also used by enemies of President Trump’s initiatives to stymie the legitimate orders issued by his senior officials"

******************

Both of those statements are absolutely true. These bureaucracies are self-serving obstructionists.

~~~
Is that the goal?
While some segments of the populace would like it, and another unknown segment would also as a kind of schadenfreude but not admit to it, you can get yourself ready for the MSM to do bleeding heart exposés for each and every individual laid off, with particular emphasis on single mothers and minority children, all to tear at the heart strings of suburban women and untoxified submillenials.
No. Nobody will be laid off. Some may be forced to look for other jobs and the federal government will likely lose much of the contract labor it's depended on. But no layoffs.
