I’d really appreciate some objective analysis of where we are on this.

I mean, I think Trump is doing great. But I also think he will be abandoned by the GOP, and then there’s the media. Honestly, I have a hard time seeing how Trump wins this. I also have not been following this closely, b/c it disgusts me.

Would appreciate the wisdom of folks here.

Thank you.

Your players: GOP, Media

The players: the voters

At some point it becomes a matter of principle and when you have someone who fights... you back them. He’s winning and making progress and the thing that keeps the dems up at night is the idea of him winning again... why? Ruth Bader Ginsburg is at the top of the list.

2020. President Trump’s speech was reaching out to the political middle. Trump’s supporters are already on board with building the wall. That’s principally why they elected him. Globalist hardliners never will.

He needs to pull the trigger and fund through our military. This is an invasion.

He won’t win with a shut down. The only ones being punished are the workers (who have yet to miss a single paycheck), not Congress. Trump failed in last night’s speech. Sorry, but he did. He missed the boat to stick it to the demonrats by quoting them from every time they supported border security. Name names. Don’t let them off the hook. And name the wall The Signh Wall so they can’t wiggle out of funding it.

For Democrats, opposition to a wall at the U.S. southern border, where thousands of illegals are pouring in, isn’t about “women and children.” It’s not about compassion; it’s not about a wall’s “effectiveness” (we know that a wall is effective); it’s not about the environment; it’s not about locking up the legal Latino-American vote; it’s not even (all that much) about doling goodies to indigents to expand the underclass and, with it, the size of government.

It’s about winning elections.

For Democrats, illegals are the arriving reinforcements, the ship coming in, the margin of victory, as they seek to rig the electoral landscape to secure power permanently. Last thing in the world they would want to see is Trump stopping their entry via a border wall or through any scintilla of immigration enforcement, even in cases of violent crime against Americans and legal aliens. Illegals are now the Democrats’ meal ticket.

I am of the opinion President Trump does not need the GOP.

The American People want a secure border. So President should be able to stand alone against Congress and the media.

He is the one with the power it is just a question of when he will drop the hammer on them.

President Trump has an astounding 93% approval rating with Republican voters (and that’s even with some fudging of the polls by the LSM). The GOPe are scared. They won’t cross him. The Demscum are desperate, and like any cornered rats they are dangerous. Not sure how it will play out.

POTUS plays the long game. Though the speed at which things unfold is sometimes frustrating, he plays to win. He only makes a move when he knows he’s going to win. As long as he wins, any weak kneed Republicans will ultimately follow along and support him.

He already has the ability to fund the wall unilaterally through emergency powers granted to him by statute. Everything happening now is theater designed to show the public how real the crisis is and how unreasonable the Dems are acting, wo when he ultimately declares a national emergency, the public will understand why he did it.

My 2 cents. Rinos in house may cave but less of them now. Doesnt matter there anyway. Big game is in senate. Lindsey graham of all republicans is out there saying if republican senators cave they will own the destruction of the party for the next 40 years. Then theres mcconnell. Many say he is bought and paid for by the chamber of commerce. Maybe. In the end that could work for a comprehensive bill that includes a wall. In the short term if mitch caves on the wall he gets primaried in 2020 in rand paul and trumps kentucky. Hes smart enough to see that. Recent statements indicate as much. But if enough republicans do fold, trump then declares a national energency and starts building. What the hell would he have to lose at that point.then he fights the establishment on both sides in 2020

If the GOP abandons, Trump, we will have zero reason to back any of them.....if they ain’t smart enough to understand that, they have no political aspirations...how likely is that?
