The IRS Allows Donations to Pay Off the National Debt, Let's ADD THE WALL!

The Bureau of the Fiscal Service may accept gifts donated to the United States Government to reduce debt held by the public. Acting for the Secretary of the Treasury, Fiscal Service may accept a gift of: Money, only on the condition that it be used to reduce debt held by the public.

Ask your congressman and Senator to offer legislation adding the border wall to this provision. We the people should not be blocked from funding something that we want done if we are willing to pay for it. Congress keeping us from doing so is not constitutional as it goes against Article Four, Section Four which guarantees to the states a republican form of government.

A republican form of government is one whereby the people elect representatives to the big decision making table to REPRESENT the will of the people who elected them. If the will of the people is to built a wall and Congress refuses to do so, then the people should have the ability to bypass the will of congress and implement their wishes. Congress should have no say in how funds are spent which are donated for a specific purpose. Congress only has authority over the money in their budget. Donations in excess of this is not theirs. According to the U.S. Constitution, we the people are the ones in charge. If we are able to donate to one cause already, we should be able to add the wall as another cause. Let's get this done. How can they argue against us doing what we want done as a nation without looking like total fools? President Trump should ask them to add the wall to this provision as an option and make the political case for it.

To me, politically, THIS is the argument that needs to be made. It will put maximum pressure on congress to actually fund the wall if they see that the people will do it despite them. It's tax season. That wall would be paid for in full by April!

Paying for the border is the easy part. Getting politicians to use it to support the enforcement of immigration law is the hard part. Giving a deadbeat some work boots and a bus pass won’t necessarily lead him into productive work.

Buy Wall Bonds...
   Buy Brick
      Build the wall

It’s the right thing to do.

Seems to me that any money in excess of what they budget is none of their business, especially if that money is ear marked by the people into a "build the wall" category on their form 1040.

To clarify, the whole argument is whether or not we the people are allowed to contribute donations to a particular cause and have the government use it in that way only. Folks are donating to a Go Fund Me for this already and whether or not that money can be used is under debate. My senator’s office (Kennedy, La )told me this morning that the Go Fund Me could NOT be used by the government. They also told me that donations to a wall fund set up by the government could not be done. They were flat wrong in my opinion because we already have this mechanism set up in the tax form that allows excess contributions to be made to pay on the national debt. This is the people contributing money to the government and dictating where it is to be spent. To me, the wall is a PERFECT fund to be set up to allow the people a voice that currently is not being listened to. What would Congress be scared of? That we the people actually would fund the damn wall without a penny from them? This needs to be pushed.

To clarify, the ‘it’ refers to a ‘wall’ not the money for a wall. Merely having a wall is not sufficient - it is a tool which must be actively used to keep unauthorized people out. Allowing fake asylum claimants through a ‘big beautiful door’ or not supporting deportation of those who do breach it, or allowing visa overstays, or myriad other enforcement failings would render it useless.

I agree with this for the most part. A barrier is STILL better than no barrier and would help channel folks to those big beautiful doors where the majority of the problem can be addressed. Enforcement is an issue all it's own. Right now, crossing our southern border is too easy and almost impossible to defend. A wall, properly constructed, would help greatly to reduce the influx of illegals.
