If Trump vetos, House would need about 50 Republicans to overcome his Veto; the votes aren’t there. Freedom Caucus has his back. Most of the GOP quislings are gone. We can win this ..

Nobody mentions that $5 billion is probably around .0001% of the annual budget. It’s like holding up your rent for .o5 cents.

...but there’s not enough of them. Whether they agree with Trump on the wall or not, the vast majority of elected Republicans agree with Lindsey Graham, which is that the Republican Party is finished if Trump doesn’t get the wall...and “the Republican Party” for them means their cushy seats in Congress, along with their future big-time money on K-Street.

THAT I agree with. It’s not a ton of money. Trump has misplayed this disastrously by making it a win or lose issue though, and being completely unwilling to make a deal. He could have had funding, for a wall, and he decided to blow up the talks.

Oh yeah. I agree with that but he isn’t a politician and that is why he was elected. Still, he has done a number of things I thought were ill advised but they seem to have worked out for him, so what do I know?

Excuse my French accent, but what the hell are you talking about? Don’t be taken in by the media glossing over the fact that the democrat offer barred wall construction. I paraphrase Schumer “ Not one dime for a wall. Not now. Not ever.” The “compromise” was complete capitulation by the President.

Because the Dems were playing the same semantic games that Trump is now playing, turning wall into “barrier”.

The money wasn’t going to a WALL it was going to a barrier. Now Trump has realized he had his head up his ass, but he’s made such a stink about it that the Dems can’t back down either. The deal was there, with a “wall/fence/whatever” but he destroyed it, because he’s stupid as a rock.

That $30 billion was tied to the passage of DACA which is a non-starter for the President.

not that one. Right before Christmas, they would have gone to 5, over two years. He’s not going to be able to get 5 spent in the next 9 months anyway, even if he got it, so better to take less, for longer. He’s a putz, though, and as stupid as his fans.

THAT’S the basis of everything.

For sure the people who put him in the WH will back him through this.

Forget all the Liberal dramatics and MSM indoctrination and hype

FACTS are immutable. They can be backed up with all kinds of corroboration and I am wondering why the president ( or certainly, Republicans) have NOT publicized the atrocious images of what illegals have done to the S. Border of the us. There’s an image worth a thousand words.

Really?

“Trump misplayed this...because he could have had funding for the wall...”

Do you have any PROOF of that?

Or do you just “believe” that Democrats always negotiate in good faith?
