I had to work through Clinton’s 21 day shutdown and never missed any pay. The nonessential people got extra vacation though.

Plenty of illegals looking for work that would love to do the pat downs. Pick pockets too.

Another option is to make everyone fly naked.

Send out professionals from HHS to probe and grope and squeeze them from top to bottom, then fire their sorry asses if they aren’t good and damned well sick.

Our local airport hired a private security firm some years back and the skill, manner and expertise are a hundred times better than these overfed, overpaid scumbags.

“This will definitely affect the flying public who we (are) sworn to protect,”

Apparently their oath is conditional. $$$

There still are a few private security firms, have them fill in the gaps.

Have you ever been to Israel?
Security clearance to leave Israel can often take 30-45 min per traveling group made up with constant questions.
Miss one question and your passport can be confiscated on the spot.

TSA is far more messed up as they do all they can to keep from targeting suspicious people.
I saw a woman in her 80’s run thru the ringer while I walked right thru the scanner.

It probably takes 3 TSA workers to do the job of one motivated person.
Maybe this is a chance to cull the herd.
I would bet that fully staffed TSA checkpoints will use this as an excuse to slack off, since they put out a public warning about slowdowns.

Totally agree.
If I take an official action, MY NECK is on the line. Being forced to work without pay is tantamount to slavery. Maybe they will get back pay, maybe they won’t.

Name a single company that would be allowed to force employees to work without pay.

The TSA is solely responsible for screening passengers, as well as their checked and carry-on baggage at 450 U.S. airports.

From the beginning, this responsibility should have been turned over to the US Coast Guard. The Coast Guard is currently maritime, it’s military and it’s a multi-mission service. It already operates under the HSA.

The Coast Guard’s maritime law enforcement mission can be expanded to aviation. They are procedure & process oriented as well as military, therefore, lapses of judgment, decorum or ability by a Coast Guard screener can be reviewed & dealt with immediately. No union-related encumbrances.

I think you’ve made my point.

Israel has always been much more in danger, and has necessarily figured out the logistics of this problem for their ‘situation’.

I’m just saying that we can take some principles and guidance from them, and stop being afraid of being accused of ‘profiling’.

It seems to me that we’re unnecessarily wasting a lot of time and manpower on these random searches of old women and little kids, while there are ‘smart’ ways of identifying suspects that I’m not sure we’ve thoroughly investigated.

Airports are safer without them.

Indeed. They are the very image of a "non-essential" government employee.

Also, everyone knows going in that all of these morons and parasites are going to get paid. We've seen this movie before and we know how it turns out. Anyone who calls in sick is just using up their vacation days. Of course, knowing how incredibly screwed up and corrupt our government is, (at every level), they probably won't even be 'charged' the vacation time when all is said and done.

IIRC, when she was Speaker under the Bamster, Pelosi flew on a USAF 737 back to San Francisco every weekend. Pure abuse.
