Won't resign and there is no cause to fire him. Not likely to make the President happy.

Won't resign and there is no cause to fire him.

Is Fed Chairman a position that is somehow protected by some law? What prevents a president from firing him for any reason or no reason at all?

So fire him.

He can't. Powell can be removed for cause but he can't be fired on a whim.

Everyone says that Powell was selected by Trump, which is true but the Chairman of the Fed can only be selected from the sitting members of the Board of Governors, so his choices were very limited.

If Trump needed something to fire him I’m sure Trump would be able to find it. Powell is kidding himself.

If necessary, utilize the US Marshalls to drag him out.

Oh really?

So, what part of he’s serving at the pleasure of the president does he seem to fail to grasp? He may be doing a great job, but words like that tend to have unintended consequences to one’s future plans.

There is a lot of cause to fire him, he's failed in so many ways.

The work-around is to end the Fed altogether and sell money organically, but that would be taking the banksters toys away.

Another self-important, power-hungry swamp creature. President Trump should have cleaned house and disinfected these posts of Obamanation holdovers when he took office.

He can be fired “for cause.”

But the “cause” cannot be “Trump needed a scapegoat.”

The Federal Reserve is an independent agency. Under the law the Fed Chair is appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate, but once in office can only be removed for cause. Disagreeing with the President is not sufficient cause for removal.

...

I don’t know if there is legal cause, but he’s wrong. There’s little inflation and economic growth doesn’t cause inflation. He’s already cost us hundreds of billions of dollars in higher interest payment on Obama’s debt.

People got to jail for robbing you of thirty dollars. When you trash the economy as a Fed chief you’re a hero.

As a 30 year former gov’t worker the gov’t can always find a reason for termination if they are looking for it. Powell is playing a dangerous game.

He's not serving at the "pleasure of the President". He's been appointed to a four year term. He's in there until his term runs out or he gives cause for being removed.

Different circumstances.
