101st Rose Queen Says She Is First Jewish and First LGBTQ Queen

Louise Deser Siskel, a high school senior who will preside over the New Year’s Day Tournament of Roses Parade, says she is the first Jewish Rose queen in the parade’s 101-year history.

Siskel, 18, also told the local media that she is the first LGBTQ queen and the first queen that wears glasses, though none of these firsts have been officially verified.

“What was important to me throughout the interview process was that I was completely transparent about who I was, about the things that I value, and about the things that I advocate for,” she told the Pasadena Star News in an interview last week.

Siskel, of San Marino, California, is a member of Pasadena’s Sequoyah High School debate team and judicial committee, is involved in YMCA Youth & Government, and has researched breast cancer at The Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, as well as worked on research projects funded by NASA Ames. She plans to study cellular and molecular biology in college.

She also wrote an essay for LA Times... https://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-siskel-rose-queen-20181231-story.html

"I am Jewish. I wear glasses. I am bisexual — and I'm the Rose Queen" was the title of her essay...

Here are some of her quotes in the essay..."I feel an additional responsibility, to myself and to this tradition, to share that I am bisexual."..."While I am almost certainly not the first member of the LGBTQ community on the court, I hope that by saying so publicly, I might encourage others to be proud of who they are."

I watched the Rose Parade on New Year's Day...Leeza Gibbons mentioned her essay during the broadcast...

OK...This young lady is very intelligent...She will study science at University of Chicago...But, I don't agree with her that it is OK to use her appointment to push for more public support for homosexuals...

I like watching Rose Parade...I do not want this to be politicized...

Siskel did not mention her sexual orientation in her TV message during the parade...

What if some "transgender" person wants to be the Rose Queen? Then what will the committee do? If the Rose Queen is some "transgender" person, I think many people will stop watching Rose Parade...Lower TV ratings...

It's not. She is forcing you to have her version of sex with her. You are being raped.

YAWN,

“I like watching Rose Parade...I do not want this to be politicized...”

EVERYTHING since the Fraud’s first campaign on America has been politicized.

FYI, I LOVE parades, just hate to WATCH them.

The script provided to the broadcasters sure did!

Such a proud moment for her religion. Jews must be glowing in their pride at this achievement of a fellow member of their religion. /s

People like her seem to enjoy posing as bait for the foreign-minded oddballs on the other side: the fakey, self-described paleo-cons (chameleon lefties). The two odd factions continue to paint each other as being the evil, traditional conservative Americans, mislabeling us all as “neo-cons.”

Honestly, when it comes to females, I truly don’t care.

It’s male homosexuality specifically which is civilization-wrecking. The female version bears no resemblance. There’s a reason the sexual laws in Leviticus are directed to men only.

SMH - whatever gave these people the idea that anyone cares about any of that ? I’d be far more interested to hear about her science projects and results than inane meaningless items like she’s Jewish, has a vision problem or likes girls. Seriously. I. Don’t. Care.
