You know, I really do thank you for informing me. Contrary to my wife’s frequently expressed complaint, I don’t always have to be right. I do always want to be correct, however, and it’s more important to determine the truth.

As I read the court decision, it initially made sense. But the more I think about it, the less sense it makes. It says that it’s okay to discriminate, but not to advertise your discrimination beforehand. Isn’t the real result of this to waste a lot of people’s time by allowing renters to apply for places they’ll never get to live in, and forcing the existing roommate to sort through applications they’ve never going to approve?

Yeah, nonsensical for sure. But liberals don’t like to face the reality of competing interests where their legal and stated principles are involved. The workarounds can minimize the misunderstandings and wasted efforts all around. Truth be told it is the exemption for landlord-occupied small buildings that would fall first.
