“So commercial growers can grow whatever they want, but individuals are limited to 6 plants? “

Yes.

[Maybe they should offer free pot to homeless and pot junkies in exchange for them picking up human feces, and garbage from the sidewalk]

I think they’ll successfully hand out the free pot. Getting the services required is another matter. Homeless people and junkies (often going together) aren’t people who necessarily have enough motivation to do menial work of a dirty and/or disgusting nature.

CA law allows every adult to grow six plants to maturity

And pot is easier to grow than tomatoes. So I'm told.

I would imagine there are still street dealers selling pot. The price will be less since it is not being taxed.

Of course now the dealers are really in trouble because while the government can overlook drug use, they will never overlook someone not paying taxes.

The street dealers will now be arrested for tax evasion.

6 plants to maturity, outdoors in the ground will produce no less than 25lbs of trimmed buds.

And the leaves will kick your butt. So I'm told.

“I would imagine there are still street dealers selling pot.”

I’m not sure there is such a thing.

People sell from their homes I think.

Whips and attack dogs would help.

Thanks for the ping.

California did what it always does: taxes too much!!!

Taxes keep the prices high enough for the illegal sellers to stay in business which keeps crime/turf wars in business.

Law of foreseeable consequences but since the logic is based upon your grandparent’s economy, it can’t be right, we (Californians) are progressive and it will work to our LEFTism, this time for sure!

1) Campaign to legalize Pot. Emphasize that it helps those cancer patients. Also talk about how legalizing it will destroy the black market. Talk about all of the police resources it will free for pursuing real criminals - those dirty plastic grocery bags and straws!

2) Remember to reward your peeps, they worked hard for you! Reward the usual LEFT groups, make sure they get their snootful. Govt. employees, lawyers, pressure groups ... all get their cut from the new tax base of the legal growers and sellers. Impose regulations and taxes from before the first sale, you need the POT money in the pot NOW, elections are coming!

3) Oops, the left hand of the LEFT wants free and easy transit of the California/Mexico Border. But amongst those poor and hapless future ‘D’ voters are the drug cartels that have been importing POT for DECADES! They see no reason to stop, their market is growing! How does the school resource officer know if that joint is from Humboldt or Vera Cruz? Legal POT stores? Sorry but we are too busy ignoring the undocumented to worry about your problems!

4) The legal outlets fail because their regulatory & tax overhead is much higher than the local kid on the corner who gets their stash from their friendly cartel supplier. More people stoned because it is legal but tax & regulatory revenue (already spent) is dropping. Aw gee, another utopia gone up in (POT) smoke!

I’m sure I missed a few steps but analyzing this from a few states away keeps me from seeing the newest trends!

I detest the smell of pot. It make me sick to my stomach.

I had a teenage family member who grew pot in the backyard between the bushes and a fence. One day the parents noticed and pulled it all out. If this kid could grow it, anyone can.

Retail is $15/gr for low to mid grade.

A friend of mine grows and sells top grade pot for 240.00 oz. in NYS.

why pay the high CA ripoff taxes when 99% of sales are proceeding just like they always did, without the taxes

it is same or similar for so many ‘regulated items’ of merchandise

the greedy politicians defeat themselves

Ouch. That works out to about $280 an ounce.
Back in my day, a lid was maybe 22 grams, so that would be $220 today. I paid ten dollars...

Back in the day that was 15.00 in Windsor Ont. but then Columbia Gold came along and prices jumped to 50.00 a quarter over night back in the late 70’s.
