Internet billionaire Reid Hoffman apologizes for funding a group tied to disinformation...

Internet billionaire Reid Hoffman apologized on Wednesday for funding a group linked to a “highly disturbing” effort that spread disinformation during last year’s Alabama special election for U.S. Senate, but said he was not aware that his money was being used for this purpose.

Hoffman’s statement is his first acknowledgement of his ties to a campaign that adopted tactics similar to those deployed by Russian operatives during the 2016 presidential election. In Alabama, the Hoffman-funded group allegedly used Facebook and Twitter to undermine support for Republican Roy Moore and boost Democrat Doug Jones, who narrowly won the race. Hoffman, the co-founder of LinkedIn and an early Facebook investor, also expressed support for a federal investigation into what happened, echoing Jones’s position from last week.

The Alabama effort was one of a series of multi-million-dollar expenditures that Hoffman made to dozens of left-leaning groups in the aftermath of the 2016 election, when he offered himself to reeling Democrats as a source of money, connections and Silicon Valley-style disruption to the staid world of party politics.

His apology raises more questions than it answers. It has a chilling effect on the democratic process. Very troubling. A full investigation is required. No man is above the law. Women and children were targeted and most vulnerable. I condemn these smears in the strongest possible terms. Must speak truth to power. And so forth and so on.

Sounds like a stolen election. We need millions in investigation and removal of Jones. That’s how it works right?

Haley “Boss Hog” Barbour and the GOPe didn’t want Roy Moore to win, so they were perfectly fine with the Democrat cheating to beat him. Jones definitely ought to be disqualified from running again.
Shame on Paul Ryan & Co. for allowing the destruction of the reputation of a good Christian man in favor of believing the lies of women who disappeared after Jones’s victory.

He should check to see where the rest of his funding donations have gone.

If he has ever given to a leftwing group, he has been funding disinformation groups for a while.

I believe there is an element of mockery in printing this stuff now. Why else would WaPo print articles confirming what we already knew, when these underhanded tactics already threw the election in favor of the socialist? They’re telling us that there is nothing we can do about it.

Unfortunately, as long as Conservatives allow themselves to be influenced through character smears and stop voting, the left will keep using these tactics.

I read somewhere that there were a lot of bots posting fake posts on a number of forums, and that 60% of those bots promoted the socialists. In addition, the claims of Russian meddling in the election are all about influencing Conservatives. Democrats don’t care about foreign influence; they’re doing everything they can to enable foreigners to destroy the country. When Democrats go on about Russian meddling, they’re banking on the fact that mentioning Russians will invoke paranoia in Conservatives, with the result that we will drop support for our candidates. It only takes 1-2% of conservatives to fall for these manipulations to turn an election.

Chief Justice Moore should sue. This guy needs to go to prison and Doug Jones needs to resign ASAFP.

IOW, he's not apologizing for doing it, or for believing the smears. Let's not be too hasty to absolve Sean Hannity for the blame he shares in Roy's defeat.

An entire article that was written without the reporter consulting a single opposition view. It’s no different that basing an entire article on interviews of the criminal without ever consulting the victim.

In 2016, Hoffman sold LinkedIn to Microsoft for $26 billion in cash.

Estimated Net Worth: $3.3 billion.

Where has all that money gone?

Hoffman’s statement is his first acknowledgement of his ties to a campaign that adopted tactics similar to those deployed by Russian operatives during the 2016 presidential election.

Since it has been admitted that those tactics could be spoofed, is it possible that it was the RATS not the Russians during 2016 ?

Don’t worry. The Democrats will be calling for a special prosecutor to go after this Democrat any second now.

Any second now....
