A NO-NONSENSE JUDGE LOOKS AT THE FLYNN PROSECUTION
POWERLINE ^ | 12/16/2018 | PAUL MIRENGOFF

Posted on 12/16/2018 8:21:00 PM PST by bitt

Emmet Sullivan has always been a no-nonsense judge. He was no-nonsense in the late 1980s when, in his capacity as a D.C. Superior Court judge, he presided over a case I was handling.

He didn’t preside long. Instead, he tossed the case on our motion for summary judgment. His opinion was brief, to the point, and affirmed unanimously by the D.C. court of appeals.

Judge Sullivan was no-nonsense in his treatment of the prosecutors in the case of Sen. Ted Stevens. He took the extraordinary step of dismissing the ethics conviction of Stevens and naming a special prosecutor to investigate the conduct of the government lawyers who prosecuted the case.

Judge Sullivan, a Clinton appointee to the federal bench, has been no-nonsense in his handling of litigation brought by Judicial Watch in connection with the Hillary Clinton email scandal. We reported on some of the developments in that case here and here.

Now, as Scott has discussed, Judge Sullivan is presiding over the Michael Flynn matter.

There’s no mystery about what happened to Flynn. Towards the end of the Obama administration, this decorated General and top intelligence official left the government and became the leading critic of the administration’s national security policy.

The President has Caved since day one when he let Sessions recuse himself, and did nothing about it. Rosenstein bragged to the gang of eight he would ‘Wiretap’ the President, And what has Trump done? NOTHING Hopefully this Judge has bigger balls than Donald.

Sullivan sounds like exactly the right judge to dismiss the case against Flynn, and avoid being lynched by the left for doing so.

It is interesting that Mirengoff argued a case before Sullivan, and won.

Can you explain why you state such things about Judge Sullivan?

Is your statement based on facts you can provide?

the Judge either earns a place in the history books on this one...or he ends up like Colin Powell.

The author calls him “a no-nonsense judge.” He also states he believes Mueller is afraid of Judge Sullivan due to the fact that Sullivan does not play around.

Do you remember anything at all about why you said this about Sullivan?

Even an anecdote?

BLAST TO THE PAST

Judge Sullivan is a good man . . . . Judge will NOT rule in favor for Flynn.

Go back and look at what "really" happened in the "Stevens" case.

Judge deals blow to case against Sen. Stevens

An excerpt from the article . . .

"A federal judge on Wednesday allowed the criminal charges against Sen. Ted Stevens to stand, but he delivered a sharp blow to the government by throwing out key evidence in the case.

Judge Emmet G. Sullivan, in the second time in as many weeks, rejected a defense motion to declare a mistrial or dismiss all seven felony charges facing the Alaska Republican, but he scolded the government for keeping key evidence from defense lawyers that they could have used during cross-examination and their opening argument."

Ya see . . .
1. The judge allowed the case go forward,
2. Stevens convicted,
3. Stevens loses the election . . . NOW
4. With political cover, then and only then did Judge Sullivan go after the prosecutors.

And oh by the way . . .

Except for the one kid who committed suicide, NO ONE, NOT ONE prosecutor was punished.

Yes, two prosecutors were given 45 and 20 days time off, but they appealed and NEVER was given any punishment.

There excuse. "THEY DID NOT DO IT ON PURPOSE!

Nothing happened except the conviction was overturned!

Y'all see the pattern here. By the way . . . that was in 2008!

Nothing changes

Normally, I'm really cynical whenever someone in position to make important decisions in a political case is called a straight shooter. Look at Comey over Hillary's computer servers. According to TChad(http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3713362/posts), and from the article, the author has gotten fair treatment by Sullivan on behalf of Judicial Watch. Sullivan also overturned Ted Stevens conviction. If Sullivan ruling says Mueller engaged in misconduct, which as far are I'm concerned Mueller should have know was going on before he accepted the job of Special Counsel, it will be a huge set back.

Well then, I hope that the Judge is determined to make reparations for past mistakes and does the right thing for Flynn!!!

He is retiring as soon as this case is over - I hope he goes out with a BanG!!! or maybe even, a BooM! lol...

Good point.

I would caution anyone susceptible to the gloominess force on us by progressives. Don’t fall for it—their nonsense is the product of hypocranialism.
