A customer at a Wisconsin Walmart tackled Christopher Simpson as he was trying to walk out of the store with stolen video games and held him down until police arrived. Simpson says he's sorry for what he did but he wants to know: did he need to be tackled over it - or was that a job better left to police?
"Me and my girlfriend decided to steal some video games from the place, and I was the one to walk out with them and she was to come out behind me," said Christopher Simpson. "I'm unemployed and I guess I needed the money, or the merchandise or whatever, but that's no excuse for my criminal behavior."
"I hit the floor with my head and basically after that he put me down and he laid on top of me. I could barely breathe," said Simpson.
Simpson has a lengthy criminal record but says it's the first time he's ever tried to steal.
"I was just trying to make it out of there alive. I don't know what possessed this guy to do this," said Simpson.
The shopper held Simpson in place until police arrived.
"The suspect said he was going to have me arrested for assaulting him," said Mark Hammer, the man that tackled Simpson. "I told him well I'm not assaulting you I'm just holding you until the cops get here."
"I think what he did was wrong and he should be punished for it," Simpson said.

A couple of days ago, in my tiny town’s Walmart, I went to the bathroom in the back. It was midafternoon and there was hardly a shopper in the store and few employees around.
I was standing at the urinal when a pair of pants got draped over the stall next to me. They were light blue with a stripe down each leg. A prison uniform. I looked down and someone was busy changing shoes and pants and ripping off and dropping price tags. Now, I carry, but decided this was not my affair.
Exiting the bathroom well ahead of the man in the toilet, I found an elderly employee and told her. Not trusting her to act quickly I found the next employee, a checker up front. He called a supervisor and I told her. Then, brave old man I am, I left the store with my purchases.
Why didn’t I stay to help? Because I could not financially survive the probable lawsuits from the offended or persecution from our Democratic county prosecutor (called State’s Attorney, here.)
I had passed several Sheriff’s road gangs in the past few days. (They go out in really nice weather.) Prisoners get onto these gangs when they have a limited time to go before they are released. Anybody stupid enough to run away from a road gang and risk a longer sentence is stupid enough to try and take my gun and I’d have to let him have it or shoot him. That would guarantee some degree of prosecution by our political state’s attorney.
Incidentally, our sheriff is quite the political animal. He won after the last sheriff had several prisoners escape. I can’t find one word of this event on-line. I am guessing they caught the guy and a “gentleman’s” agreement has kept it out of the news.
The news is 100% politics.
The darkness behind our nation’s decay and decline is too complex for simplistic answers. However, the endemic moral corruption of millions of Americans at every level of society is on display to those with eyes to see. In this case, we can see that arrogant, contemptuous transgressors at every level of society are so empowered via broken law, political correctness, and nihilistic social justice warriors that they brazenly demand not only protection to commit crime but punishment for their victims. In this light, the answer to your rhetorical question is “yes,” we should submit to the demands of transgressors.
