What returns?
I guess the rule of law means nothing any more.
Let’s just do whatever we feel like doing.
The way I state that proposition is:

I've argued for years that a president, any president, should order the Audit from Hell (Taxpayer Compliance Measurement Audit) for every Member of Congress, governor, committee chairs and ranking members, and mayors, city council chairs, and county council chairs of all local jurisdictions with over one million people. Basically, audit the ranking members of America's political class, across the board and every year. Tell them that this will continue permanently, and if Congress doesn't like the hassle, Congress can pass real tax reform that massively simplifies the system.
Any president who does this will be reelected in a landslide.
That should be: committee chairs and ranking members of state legislatures.

So would I but there are laws that bar that. Nixon used to get tax returns and it got those who provided them into trouble.
There is a law wherein the joint tax committee has authority to see the president’s returns. She is not on that committee. IMO, if any info were to leak after they got his returns, or anyone elses, Trump should pull out all stops in insuring those who did it go to jail.
Fishing expeditions are unconstitutional. But who is going to enforce the law?

Someone there should find where pelosi got all her money.. how much she raked in from special interest. Get her returns also.
And... obama set up a new law... use the IRS to stop those he did not like.
I am surprised they have not been leaked already! There has to be a few unscrupulous Rats running around the IRS! Sure, all access should be tagged with the requestor, but they would simply say, hacked! Or, I didn’t lock my computer, or some other crap. Once it is out, it cannot be put back.
The real reason the Democrats what Trump’s tax returns is to leak selected portions of them to imply that there is malfeasance. They know well enough that if there really were any irregularities, they would have been resolved years ago. Again, fishing expedition.
