I wouldnt call this situation Trumps worst nightmare. Far from it.
They are possibly useful idiots indoctrinated to politically attack Pres. Trump.
To: artichokegrower
Arrest them now, BEFORE they travel to DC to be sworn in. The Constitution protects representatives from arrest traveling to and from Congress.
To: artichokegrower
They obviously flatter themselves with their delusions.
To: artichokegrower
They call themselves Mexicans and also breaking our federal immigration laws.
They are not Americans.

It is funnny sometimes reading the comments here, clearly written by people who did not read the article, or do any research.
Both women are American citizens now. They both were brought to this country illegally, DECADES ago. They were then deported with their parents, DECADES ago. I can't find anything about how they came back into the country, or received citizenship.
Susan Rubio is the one who was just elected.
Blanca Rubio is 49 years old now, and actually was elected in 2016, not 2018.
Here is her picture:

Then how do you know they're
United States citizens?

Assemblywoman Blanca Rubio (center) with her sisters Sylvia (left) and Susan (right) at her Baldwin Park home. (Katie Orr/KQED)
Rubio spent her early years in Juarez, Mexico. When she was a young girl, Rubio moved with her parents to a small town in Texas, where her father had a construction job but no work permit. Her father was eventually found out and the family was deported to Mexico.
When she was 8 years old, Rubio and her family successfully arrived in Los Angeles, again as undocumented immigrants.
Rubio, who eventually became a citizen, says she now sees it as part of her job to humanize undocumented immigrants for some of her more conservative colleagues.

She looks like she could be 100% of conquistador ancestry--all Spanish, no indigenous ancestors. But no doubt she qualifies as a "woman of color" by virtue of being born in a Latin-American country.

It sounds like they went into teaching before they attended a community college. Is a high school diploma all that is required to be a teacher in California?
To: Lurkinanloomin
So California has illegal alien Mexicans working within their government? The article says they "were" undocumented. If they're now holding elective office, they must have become naturalized at some point.
To: Lurking Libertarian
Not within our laws.
Once deported, returning as an illegal alien is a felony.
Somebody bent the laws for them if they somehow got citizenship.

They entered the country illegally when they were young children, got deported to Mexico and were left to learn English all on their own.
How did they get back in the Country?? Illegally?? How much Taxpayer Money did the Criminal Invaders suck up? and Why in the Hell are they still here?

At their swearing in ceremony, they are going to play “ICE, ICE, Baby”.
I want to see the rats run like the Indy 500.

California deserves these women and they deserve California.
Just don’t flee to other states when California collapse.
