Former Schumer Aide: Dems Will Lose the House in 2020 If Impeachment Is Pursued

Democrats are set to take control of the House soon and impeachment has been on the minds of many. But if it’s a path House Democrats ultimately pursue, they could pay a hefty price come 2020, says a former aide to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

"If you try to impeach him without the Republicans coming on board to actually remove him, it’s a waste of time, it's a waste of political capital, and it will lead to the Democrats losing their majority and Donald Trump being reelected,” Christopher Hahn told Fox News’s Tucker Carlson.

Hahn said, however, he doesn’t believe Democrats will seek President Trump’s impeachment because Democratic leadership understands the best way to remove the president is at the ballot box in 2020, noting that there would need to be bipartisan agreement if that path were pursued.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has been against impeachment, arguing that it's "not someplace that I think we should go."

"For those who want impeachment, that's not what our caucus is about," she told PBS last month.

If impeachment proceedings began, "It would have to be bipartisan and the evidence would have to be so conclusive," she added.

"I believe that whatever we do, we have a responsibility to first and foremost to unify the nation," Pelosi has said.

Hahn argued that the best strategy Democrats can pursue to take down Trump would be through investigations so that it's more difficult for him to be reelected.

"Barring some major revelation in the Mueller report, I don't think you will see impeachment on the agenda for the next Congress," he said.

Yes, but I suspect Nancy thinks it would be “a nice little arrow to have in her quiver,” as she puts it.

That would be the least of their worries.

They might end up at Uncle Benito's Esso station against their will.

If impeachment proceedings began, "It would have to be bipartisan and the evidence would have to be so conclusive," she added.

So Nancy has admitted (in a roundabout way) that the Mueller investigation is nothing but a witch hunt. The evidence has never been there; the "investigation" should never have been initiated.

In a sane world, it is true that impeachment would be seen as a grotesque overreach, but I never underestimate the ability of republicans to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. No doubt in my mind that for every GOP never-trumper who has come out and been identified, there are 4-5 hiding under a rock who would pile on when the SHTF.

I think Nancy knows it too, but Tom Steyer and their foaming at the mouth moonbat base are going to force the issue. She will be unable to resist.

Exactly. With big money behind it, she will capitulate. The leftist oligarchs will have their way with the party they purchased.

Impeachment by another name.

Dems won’t lose the House if they continue to hone their election fraud schemes with impunity. I foresee many more leftist states legalizing the ballot harvesting fraud schemes that benefited California democrats.

Dems will lose the House in 2020 regardless. If they continue their Trump attacks in their typical over the top looniness it will make it a landslide.

That’s all PR.

They know, and I know, that Mueller will write a damning report, the media and talking heads and politicians will all blow up and hope for a blood in the water feeding frenzy.

On the strength of that, they will vote to impeach.

In the Senate, they will probably lose, but they have the “impeached” label to hang on Trump and the feeding frenzy.

So, my guess is that Mueller will hold off on his report until this time next year. In the meantime, they’ll examine Trump’s taxes and businesses.

They are in a no win situation. They try to impeach-they lose. If they don’t impeach a lot of their lunatic voters will stay home.

Unless the economy is in the tank, which I doubt, Trump will be re-elected.Americans don’t like voting out after one term usually.

I watched this, Tucker out smarted this idiot. He challenged that they must impeach, given all the rhetoric from their party that “Trump is Hitler, etc.” - how can they NOT impeach?? So while this guy tries to explain how it’ll just hurt the party he is also admitting, unintentionally, that the rhetoric is all just nonsense too.

They WILL pursue it. It is in their nature. Their base DEMANDS it.
